I think he's bringing the spirit of Vatican II forward.
By going out into the people, reaching out to the disaffected, the
disinterested, and the disheartened, drawing them back, lovingly, to
reconciliation with the Church.
By pastoring us, and allowing us to feel connected to him, as a person, he
allows us to come closer to him, and the Church, thereby allowing us to feel
and understand the love Holy Mother the Church has for each one of us.

I'm so pleased we have a Pope that follows the teachings of Christ.  That to me is more important than the pageantry and bureaucracy.
