In case some of you don't know this:  Rich Harisay is running against Sherrie Springer for House District 17 and he could really use our help.

Sherrie Sprenger is one of the ALEC members of the house, and Rich has made this affiliation the centerpiece of his campaign.  If we want to punish those legislators that sell their votes to special interests, then we have to take some of these ALEC incumbents down this year.

Incredibly, AFSCME just endorsed SEVEN ALEC members, Including Sherrie Sprenger, so Richard needs all the help he can get.
(AFSCME will be hearing from me on this....)

I've provided some ALEC research to Rich over the last few months, and I can tell you that he's a good, articulate candidate who shares our views, so if you live in the Salem area, please consider contacting Rich at richh...@gmail.com to lend your support.

thx,

-steve b

A few weeks ago 'Debra' emailed me suggesting that I was something less than Occupy material. Receiving email seemingly from her now, makes me wonder if this and other similar emails are of bogus origin.

If this email is from 'Debra' please impress me, else bugger OFF!

Hi James.

I’m Sandy (from MPMTA) I can see you have hurt feelings and I have gotten more than I would like along the way too. The thing is that the issue here is about getting Rich Harisay elected to represent the 17th district in the State Assembly. I have put together about 50 fund raising letters for him and it’s a tiny drop in the bucket. He needs help, lots! Some of us have time to give; maybe someone has a ream of paper or boxes of business envelopes. Maybe we could get together and put out a bunch of letters all at once, maybe for an hour before another meeting we might go to anyway?

His literature includes a great piece against ALEC and you well know if a couple of conservatives win in Oregon, we turn into a Wisconsin as almost all of the Assembly Republicans belong to ALEC and the couple that don’t almost always vote with them. In addition, the Dems seem to have lots of things to do with contributions except share them with candidates who have a real stretch to make it. You and I can make a difference.

Rich’s opponent is an ALEC member, so let’s please try to look past some things and let’s do a job. If we ever had a candidate that most closely matches our values, we have that in Rich. Anybody in?

Thank you,

Sandy Oliver-Poore

Dear Sandy:

Our office has a few boxes of 11x17 legal that could be cut to size. I would be willing to offer you 2 reams of this 11x17, which can be cut to 2000 sheets for a few bucks/ream at the Fedex/Kinko's. How can I get them to you?

A point of order. I receive letters/emails from folks, that do not appear to be their style of prose. Debra hardly wrote with concise sentences, or without sometimes distructive verbage/prose. It was clear that the email from 'Debra' was not her style, this is why my return letter was so short tempered.

I even get emails from the DNC, all with similer prose contruction, but with different names of origin. Sadly, having been badly abused by a few folks, and now apparently having received emails with incorrect origin information, my sceptism has been excessivly alerted/alarmed.

I thank you for your work with Rich and Move to Amend, both seem worthy of contributions.

Again, please inform me ASAP as to a contact location/means to hand off the indicated reams of paper.

Sincerely Yours,

James Cox

Hi Folks,

One way you can help Richard Harisay is to make a stink about the fact that the Oregon chapter of AFSCME has ENDORSED 8 ALEC members of the Oregon State Legislature, including Richard's opponent, Sherrie Sprenger!

You can find details here:
http://www.tumblr.com/blog/barhoprpdx

If you frequent Blue Oregon or other political blogs, and ESPECIALLY if you know members of AFSCME, please point this out and demand an explanation.    It's just inexcusable to endorse any ALEC member for re-election, given what we know about that organization!
