You can create a playlist in WMP, then sync the playlist. But all that this does is transfer the music that was in your playlist. The playlist does not show up under the Playlist menu like it did on the Clip Zip. I needed to transfer the music and all of the different playlists that I created. There is a link in the conversation below. There seems to be a way to create playlists and save them, but it seems that you also have to create separate folders for each playlist. Also, each folder has to contain all of the music for that playlist. I ended up returning the Clip Sport. This mp3 player from Sony works with WMP and syncs both music and playlists just like the Clip Zip. -NWZE384-Walkman-Video-Player/dp/B00ECRPOKS/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1428375809&sr=1-2&keywords=sony+walkman+mp3+player I ended up purchasing the Sony and am very pleased with it.

Jeff Markman: how can I get the playlist to transfer also?
James G.: Jeff, clip sport only supports m3u playlist. Please follow the steps given in the below link.

Jeff Markman: So you are saying that the ability to transfer the playlist directly from windows media player was removed from the clip sport?
Jeff Markman: This was a very easy process with the clip zip. the procedure you sent me is too difficult for a casual PC user.
James G.: I understand. But clip zip supports MTP mode, because of which the playlist was transferred that way. However Clip sport has MSC mode. It supports only M3U files.
Jeff Markman: I do not understand any of that. All I know is that this mp3 player is not usable for the person who will be using it. The process is not too difficult.
Jeff Markman: We will return this for a refund.
Jeff Markman: Does sandisk make any MP3 players that support the MTP mode?
James G.: Yes Jeff, other players like Clip+. Fuze+ , Clip Zip . They all have MTP as well as MSC mode.

So let me get this straight. With the Clip Sport, I can have my music in any folder or combination of folders. Then all I have to do is create .m3u playlists on my PC, then copy them onto the root of the mp3 player storage. Is this correct? And I should see them in the Playlists menu of the mp3 player?

The following instructions apply to the Windows Media player. The steps to be followed depend upon the version of the player installed. Note: After making the selections described, it may be necessary to close down Windows Media player and restart it for the changes you have made to take effect.

Please note that it is recommended that you choose to view the video from the FDA page rather than downloading the video file to preserve captioning. If the video is downloaded captions may not be displayed because your WMV player cannot find the captioning ("SAMI") file stored on the web server.

I want itunes to be the default media player for all files it supports, I tried some of the suggestions posted but they don't work inn W10, Microsoft isn't going to make it easy for anyone to chose apps other than theirs but I mostly hate the windows apps and all of my media is either itunes or Amazon so itunes. itunes isn't an available option in ay of the drop down menus when selecting default apps by file type, which makes it nearly impossible to choose it as default. 'warn me when itunes is not my default" has always been checked but I've never seen a warning.

I am working on a python program that uses vlc for audio, It runs on a windows system and perform this function (along with others).
I currently have it supporting the following MQTT messages (currently). Would you be willing to test it?

@Sireone (and any other brave souls).
I have created a build for my windows pc based notification app (HApyAudio).
Program is capable of running in the system tray (not really a service so use the windows startup apps)
This is built in Python and all the code is available for review here [be kind ;-)]

If the result cannot fit on a 32 bit register it generates a CPU exception. This one is not handled by quartz.dll. There is no memory corruption here and the value does not appear to be used for any memory allocation. Rather, the operation is calculating a value related to the rate at which the media is to be played.

Note: the Basic version does NOT include a player
You need to use it together with an already installed DirectShow player such as Windows Media Player. For playback issues with WMP please read our F.A.Q. for solutions.

Let me start by explaining I'm the frugal tech. I plan on retiring within two years and my wife has stage 4 cancer, the latter which puts the the former in jeopardy. For that reason, I try to carry on as best I can with little or no cost product. I have an iPhone, but it's an SE, I have an Apple Watch, again the SE. I have an iPad, but it's of the 64GB Wi-Fi $329 variety. I don't subscribe to a third party AV for my personal laptop, I use Defender. I practice safe computing, so it works for me. This is about listening to Mp3's, some of it ripped from my albums and CDs, and much of it songs and audio originally downloaded from Guttenberg and the US Archives site and obtainable free of charge.

When WD all but made my 5 year old WD MyBookLive NAS useless because of a security flaw, I didn't want to buy a new device. I was able to get VLC to still see it, which I can use on my IOS devices at home, but it didn't do me any good if I'm away from home. With a small SSD drive on my laptop, I copied my music from my WD NAS to an SD card which I could take on the road. I went through the gambit for testing free media players. VLC for Windows was my best option for a while, but basic as it comes to artist art, album art and sorting options. Original Windows Media player was fine, but can't display art for files on an SD card. I settled on Groove. It looked fantastic. It did have a big flaw though. Everything I copied from the WD NAS is correctly displayed but anything new I added eventual displays as "unknown everything". I can edit information, and that works temporarily, but eventually then revert to the "unknown". So big deal because I rarely have anything new and if I did, I'd just stick it on the SSD drive and it displayed correctly. So I've been anxiously waiting for Media Player for Windows 11 which was finally pushed out to me this week.

The installation replaced Groove and when the new Media Player for Windows 11 popped up, it looked great. What's this? Artist art for A Silver Mt Zion? I didn't have that before! Awesome! Then POP. Everything disappeared with a big "We couldn't find any music" in the middle of the screen. I figured it might be just indexing so let it sit overnight. No good. The "Folder in Library" settings looked OK, but I redid them anyway. No change. I dropped a few songs on the hard drive and added the folder to the library. Still no change. Groove is gone and Media Player for Windows 11 is worthless to me. Original media player still sees it all, so I'm not completely dead in the water, but I like seeing the artist and album art

Anyone used the new Media Player for Windows 11 yet? Have you seen anything similar? Any suggestions?
