Topic 1: ASQ Reliability Division Webinar Series - English
Introduction to Vibration Qualification Testing
DATE: May 9, 2013 0900 US Pacific Coast Time
DESCRIPTION: May 9, 2013. This Webinar will present the basic concepts used in vibration qualification testing.
A condensed overview of the following concepts will be presented:
– Various vibration sources (sinusoidal, random, etc.)
– Ways to quantify and analyze vibration properties
– Typical means to replicate field conditions in a lab environment
– Shakers (mechanical, electrodynamic, hydraulic)
– Vibration fixtures
Hands-on insights and case histories encountered in our test lab will be presented to practically illustrate the concepts.

Topic 2: ASQ Reliability Division Webinar Series - Chinese
Comprehensive Consideration in Planning an Effective Reliability Demonstration Test (更有效的设计可靠性验证试验)
DATE: May 18, 2013 19:00 US Pacific Coast Time
DESCRIPTION: We live in a rapidly-changing world; new technology, new material and new device emerge every day. Manufacturers face fierce competition in global market as customers’ expectation is soaring constantly, which has not only pushed reliability requirements in product development up higher and higher but also forced product development cycle shorter and shorter with a shrinking budget.
On other hand, the philosophy that the reliability has to be verified has been widely adopted and commonly practiced in industries. Demand for a more effective way to conduct RDT (Reliability Demonstration Test) is challenging reliability practitioners and researchers daily. “How to design an efficient and effective RDT” has drawn a big attention to reliability engineering society. A couple of great talks on this topic have been given in this ASQ Chinese Reliability Webinar series. They focused mostly on achieving perfection of numerical results from statistical (life-distribution) models, accelerated life testing methods, accelerated degradation testing methods, or mathematical optimizations.
In this presentation, we are going to further beautify RDT plans at a different angle. On top of all achievement of statistical and ALT/ADT methods, we will add one more dimension into the picture – the stress/strength domain. The idea of how to bring the stress/strength interference in designing RDT will be discussed, and a successful story of applying it to a real industrial application will be presented.
