Sepsis
This month we focus on sepsis, a life-threatening medical condition that arises when the body's response to an infection becomes dysregulated, leading to widespread inflammation, tissue damage, and potential organ failure.
It can result from various infections, including those of the lungs, urinary tract, abdomen, or skin. Early recognition and treatment are critical, as sepsis can progress rapidly and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
|
|
Sepsis strikes without warning, claiming a life every 2.8 seconds. Despite its devastating impact, it remains largely overlooked in public health discussions. This journey led to the creation of XGal-3®, a groundbreaking new device designed to halt sepsis progression by targeting Galectin-3, a protein driving the deadly inflammatory process.

Methylene blue (MB), a powerful antioxidant with a clinical impact comparable to even vitamin C. It is not produced in the body, and it is not naturally present in any animal or plant. Nevertheless, its documented beneficial health effects rival that of any other known substance, whether normally found in nature or coming out of a laboratory.

Dr. Paul Marik from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia has developed and tested a new protocol in his intensive care unit (ICU) for patients diagnosed with advanced sepsis and septic shock.

Dr. Levy reports on an incredible therapy for sepsis (the body's overactive immune response to infection) developed by Dr. Marik. It involves IV vitamin C, hydrocortisone and thiamine. Patients at death's door in the ICU have had remarkable recoveries. With sepsis being a common cause of death, this therapy has the potential to save millions of lives.
