Hi,
I am at the moment quite impressed of the simplicity of aspen.
I have never before used Python for web programming and so far I like
it.
I am however looking for help regarding two things.

1) How do you run aspen through https, as I understand cherrypy is
used as server and according to http://www.cherrypy.org/wiki/CherryPyFaq
https support is present from v3. so how do I enable it?

2) How do you manage session variables and authentication? I could not
find any sample implementation. What I am looking for is as simple as
an ordinary form with username password. At the post this data should
be validated and then check if the user managed to log on, after that
I would like to keep a note that this "session" is authenticated so I
can look up that when presenting all subsequent pages.

Best regards //
DW

Daniel,

The short answer is that these aren't implemented in Aspen yet. :-(

For SSL I'm currently using a proxy in front of Aspen.

For authentication I have an implementation but I haven't rolled it into Aspen proper yet.

Will see what I can pull together ...

Daniel,

Would you be up for sprinting on this together via a Skype call? Not sure what time zone you are in. I'm in UTC-4 here.

Chad,
I am fully occupied with work until 14:th of October.
On top of that I am a total noob regarding Python development, but I
coul be up for a sprint later on, just to learn more.
I am living in Sweden (CEST or UTC+2).

Cheers

Daniel,

Cool. I've got another guy asking for some Django integration and it looks like we're going to try sprinting on that tomorrow. In general I'm wondering if scheduling mini-sprints and pair programming might be a good way to move the project forward in the face of my own work schedule as well. ;-)

Let's touch base in a few weeks.

cheers,
chad
