PTA Meeting - Tues. March 15, 6:30pm

To all of our dedicated PTA members:


Your children may be young, but it’s never too early to prepare for
college! That’s our program topic this Tuesday, March 15th at the
General PTA Meeting. Aspen Creek counselor Robin Sackman will be
speaking about how to prepare your student for college and Kylnn
Hemlock from College Invest will discuss how you can financially reach
your child’s higher education goals.

Also at our March meeting, our members will be electing new officers
for the 2010-2011 school year. The nominees are Julie Haman,
President; Tinna Petursson, Vice President; Renee Troso, Secretary;
and Donna Hardy, Treasurer.

We still have other needs on the PTA Board as well. Our Programs
Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator and Legislative Liaison positions
each need to be filled for the 2011-2012 school year. The Programs
Coordinator arranges speakers for the programs during our general PTA
meetings and helps coordinate author visits with Librarian Andrea
Kibe. The Fundraising Coordinator arranges fundraising opportunities
such as Chick-fil-A nights, Skate City parties, and will be helpful in
brainstorming new ideas to help raise money for the school. This
person is also instrumental in our 2 big annual fundraising events:
the Fall Festival and the Spring Fling. The Legislative Liaison keeps
the PTA connected with education changes at the capitol. Please come
to the meeting if you are interested in any of these positions. Thank
you!

The PTA General Meeting begins with a short business meeting at 6:30pm
in the library. That is when we will elect our officers and talk
about other upcoming PTA events and needs. The “Preparing for
College” program begins at 7:00pm immediately following the business
meeting. As always, free childcare is provided. Please join us!
