Job Summary:
Under general supervision, designs, tests, and implements Java-based web
applications using industry standard software development practices,
techniques, tools, and frameworks. Designs and develops complex business
components in Java deploying to Java EE Application Servers.
Duties:
• Translate application storyboards, use cases and web-page concept designs
into functional, dynamic web applications.
• Provide estimates of level of work effort and time for completion.
• Develop and unit test complex application web components.
• Develop complex application business logic using Java.
• Design and code, and integrate application business layer with external
application components.
• Create or update system documentation.
• Demonstrate the ability to multitask.
• Transfer knowledge and transition work to the team.
Communication:
Individuals at this level are expected to:
• Present ideas assertively, aggressively and not be easily ignored.
• Be articulating, persuasive and organized in their presentation skills.
• Carry themselves well in-group settings.
• Listen and promote open communication upward, downward and
cross-functionally.
• Write meaningful complex documents such as program specifications and test
plans. Documents should be clear, concise, grammatically correct,
and require minimal editing.
• Communicate effectively with peers, clients, FRIT personnel, and other
District personnel. Effectively and accurately track progress and report
status.
Knowledge and Experience:
• Use and apply technical/business
knowledge on both the job and future planning of job deliverables.
• Expert on Java EE technologies (specifically JPA, JAXB, JAXP, Web
Services – JAX-WS, Maven to build).
• Expert in open source frameworks (Hibernate, Spring).
• Experience with Vaadin and/or GWT is a plus.
• Experience with Spring integration and Activiti is a plus.
• Experience with Eclipse/ RSA, Oracle, WebLogic, Tomcat, & web services.
• Must be familiar with implementing standard best practices (e.g. secure
programming, Java patterns, test first development.).
• Provide expert technical mentoring on the tools used for a specific project
and how to get the most out of the tools.
• Provide fully documented work, instruction, and training to peers as
required.
