Forthose that don't know, Slime Rancher is one of the most wholesome games out there. You play as Beatrix, a rancher on a far-off planet, spending their days corralling smiling Slimes and making your fortune on the Plort market.RELATED:Slime Rancher 2 Announced And Coming To Game PassSlime Rancher has won over so many players with its laid-back and addictive gameplay, and it's not hard to see why. In fact, Slime Rancher 2 is coming this year, too - so it is important to remember which Slimes helped players the most. This particular list is based on a few things: cuteness and appearance, Plort prices, and availability. Largos are not included here as they aren't singular Slimes, and Gold Slimes are also omitted due to the fact they are so rare.
Let's start with a classic: the Pink Slime. It is the first friend that players meet in the game, and is a bountiful option for farming. These bouncy boys are ideal for creating Largos with different Slime Plorts, but on their own, they are a great money-making option in the early game as they require no special features on a corral.
Next up is the jazzy-looking Crystal Slimes. They're essentially the fancy big brother to the Rock Slimes but can bring in much more of a profit. They are vegetarians and have a special love for Odd Onions. Crystal Slimes won't be available immediately, as they are in an area behind at least one locked door.
Beware though, as Cyrstal Slimes can be painful if they bounce into Beatrix. They create crystal protrusions where they bounce, which can also harm our dear rancher. These can be dispersed with water, though!
The concept for Quantum Slimes is so cool: they phase in and out of their physical form and zoom about the place with a sort of astral projection. They're so interesting as a design and concept.
Be warned, they can be an absolute pain to look after without the correct setup. The best way to keep these guys happy is to have a fully upgraded corral and plenty of Phase Lemons. Fill up an Auto-Feeder and keep it on medium-high frequency. If they're fed, they'll stay put, but if Quantums get hungry, they'll phase out of the corral and wander off.
The sweetest Slime by far is the Honey Slime. Found in the Moss Blanket area, they are regarded as uncommon. Their diet consists of fruit, specifically Mint Mangoes. Honey Slimes require no special treatment other than a load of fruit, so they are a cute and easy addition to any ranch.
Fun fact: Honey Plorts attract Slimes from further distances than others, so keep an eye on any others coming close, so there's no Tarrs spawning. Their Plorts go for a reasonable amount on the Market, as they are desirable for food production... yum!
Once players unlock Viktor Humphries' Workshop, they will have access to The Slimeulation - a fabrication of the Far, Far, Ranch containing the rare and mysterious Glitch Slime! Viktor created this area was created to predict and observe Slime's evolution and behaviors, among other things. Due to some funky code, Glitch Slimes were created (and a digital Tarr).
Though they cannot be ranched, the Glitch Slimes are still really cool and fun additions to the game. They are only available in the mini-game associated with the Slimeulation, which sees Beatrix have to figure out which objects/slimes are actually Glitches and hoover them all up.
Another unfortunately un-ranchable Slime is the Quicksilver. This time, the mini-game is accessible by unlocking Mochi's Manor, and playing the associated game: catch as many Quicksilvers by zapping them, and collecting the Plorts. Mochi will pay handsomely for these, as she can't be bothered to collect them herself.
Quicksilvers are super fast. They zip around the course, and will try their best to evade Beatrix - create a bottleneck in a thinner part of their path, and they're easy picking! It would be great to have these shiny dudes on the Ranch, but it's still fun to go see them in their natural habitat.
Finally, we get to the leafiest of the Slimes: the Tangle Slimes. These are later game Slimes as they are native to the Glass Desert, which can only be accessed by a certain Teleporter.
Tangles are on this list because they look great. They have a flower on their heads, and they use vines to catch their food - which is meat, by the way. Keep them well-fed with Hen Hens, and they will produce plenty of Plorts, which will earn a lot on the Market.
Look at this. How squishy. It's like a blue fried egg that is super shy. What is it? A Puddle Slime, aka the most adorable Slime in the game. They are so easy to look after and look so cute.
These little dollops of water live in a specially crafted pond - and don't require any feeding. Up to four can live in one pond before they get unhappy, and will really appreciate the rubber duck toy addition. And the best thing? They blush! When they're happy they get little rosy cheeks to let you know how well they're doing.
Mosaic Slime's Plorts are, along with Tangle Slimes, the most profitable (outside the elusive Gold Slime's Plorts). They can be quite easily ranched, once they've been found. They spawn in the Glass Desert once some Oases have been restored, and feed on veggies - specifically the Silver Parsnips.
It is advised to keep their corral a little further than any other Slimes, as they tend to set little fires around with their glassy exterior. Mosaic Slimes will add a good-looking corral to any Ranch, with their glinting, glossy bodies.
Of course, coming in as the best Slime is the Lucky Slime. The cute cat-like Slimes are a strange form of Tabby Slimes. These are again, unfortunately not able to be Ranched, but when they're found they do pay off.
Every so often while wandering around as Beatrix, players will hear the tinkling of coins - that means there is a Lucky Slime nearby! There are no boundaries as to where they will spawn. Find it, and vac it, and it will drop Newbuck coins! This can be really helpful, especially in the early game, when money is scarce.
The most behaved slimes I've had are Rad Slimes. I had 30 Rad Slimes when I was new in the game and they were so well behaved, I barely even see them jump around. I got rid of some and replaced them with 12 Rad Tangle slimes and they are still surprisingly well behaved IMO. I do see them shoot out their cute vine hands out of the ground every once in a while but they still very rarely jump around compared to any other slimes/largos.
The second most behaved slimes I've had are Honey Hunter largos. I never had plain Honey Slimes or plain Hunter Slimes around so I dunno if they are good but their largos are very nice for me. I have the taming bell but they seemed pretty well behaved even before I had it, they just seem to squish the guts out of their chicken squeak toy and they'd be happy, as long as they are well fed and have music. I don't often see them jump around.
Surprisingly, the third most behaved I have are Boom Rock largos. They are sleeping the majority of the times I visit their corrals, it doesn't make sense to me, I often expect them to be exploding plorts everywhere but they are more often asleep than not. But I still do see them explode plorts out of their corrals sometimes, but it's probably only because I have 12 largos per corral.
Crystal Slimes are the worst behaved for me. I have Honey Crystal largos and they constantly keep on shooting crystal spikes out of the ground. It doesn't matter if they are well fed, listening to music and have 2 of their favorite squeak toys. I am not 100% certain but I believe their crystal spikes clog up the automatic plort collector, I always end up needing to press the collect button 2-3 times before it gets all the plorts.
The second most annoying for me is Fire Slimes. I had an incinerator in the lab and one in the docks, they keep on wandering off and wouldn't return to the ash trough for a long while on their own. At one point, I lost 1 Fire Slime from each of my two incinerators (I had 7 each) so I decided to relocate both incinerators to the retreat and place them side-by-side. It kind of made it worse, they somehow wander off more often, but at least they now have 2 ash troughs to go back to. I am wondering if they are actually harder to take care of than Crystal Slimes because they also consume food way faster than any other slime and collecting their plorts is a pain but I find their rebellious attitude cute. I just wish my little slime kiddies learn to follow the curfew.
To me none is really a problem or is the worse. Honey Crystals are simple for me because i simply just keep less and keep them well fed, same with Boom Rock slimes and anyother slimes that are on this conversation.
I always had full auto-feeders and a warp depot full of food beside the corrals of my largos. They are always well fed but the Crystal slimes still shoot crystals non-stop which causes problems. My Boom largos are one of the most behaved I have.
Rock/Rad Largos:They're a bit jumpy and like to slowly poison you, but overall, they don't do much that makes me want to tear my hair out, they're my second favorite. uwuHoney/Phospher Largos:They flutter around and seem happy at life itself, this is a Largo of literally two of the most harmless slimes EVER!Puddle/Fire Slimes:I'm grouping these two together since they're basically the same, puddle slimes swim around happy as can be and bombared their lil ducky, while fire slimes just kinda chill in their ash tray with the occasional burning of food items to feed them.
Boom/Tabby Largos:The high jump of the Tabbies and the explosion of the Boom slimes make this a HORRIBLE Largo decision, DEAR LORD, they blow their plorts EVERYWHERE and ofc blow me up occasionally, but they're usually the LEAST of my concerns. Hunter/Tagle Largos:Thank GOD I don't have any slimes next to their corral, I go out for a LONG time aLOT and come back to all the pollen and of course the grouchiness of the Hunters, again, least of my concerns. Quantum/Dervish Largos:I USED to have 6 of them in a corral, but the Quantum slimes can teleport, add that onto the cyclones of the Dervish slimes and you have the WORST Largo EVER, occasionally they'll break loose and cause so much chaos, they even caused a tarr outbreak and killed one of my fire slimes! Nasty bastards.Crystal/Mosiac Largos:There's literally no way this combo ISN'T bad, they set fire to everywhere around the corral, sometimes even to me, and the crystals are ANNOYING, but I'm usually too busy dealing with the Quantum Dervish Largos to care.
