Webinar 1:  Roadmap for Robotics

Date:  Wednesday, July 16, 2025
Time:  11:00am – 12:45pm (ET)  --- duration 1hr 45min

ASME established a robotics technology group (RTG) in 2020-2021 to enhance ASME’s leadership in current robotics activities. The first activity of the ASME RTG was to develop a current roadmap in robotics technologies. This effort occurred between the fall of 2022 through the fall of 2024 and resulted in a robotics technology roadmap covering 7 subtopics. Each topic considered a mix of obstacles, barriers and opportunities in the technology, human and societal drivers, educational drivers and governmental policy issues.  This webinar will discuss a high-level summary of this roadmap and its implications to future research, development and implementation for successful use of robot technologies.

Agenda:

  1. Welcome by Qiaode Jeffrey Ge (ASME ALTR Editor-in-Chief, Professor at Stony Brook University of New York): (5 minutes)
  2. Introduction by Webinar Moderators:
    1. ASME Robotics Technology Group’s Roadmap

o   Gloria Wiens (ASME RTG past-chair, University of Florida - Emeritus)

    1. Future of Robotics in ASME:
