ASME STUDENT PROGRAMS UPDATE

Greetings.
it is our pleasure to announce $53,000 in 10 new competition awards, 26 new grants and 22 new outstanding student section awards.
1. Innovative Additive Manufacturing (IAM3D) Challenge
Challenge designed to give mechanical and multi-disciplinary undergraduate students around the world an opportunity to re-engineer existing products or create new designs that minimize energy consumption and/or improve energy efficiency. Students will showcase their creativity by demonstrating the value added through their ingenuity, application of sound engineering design principles, and leveraging Additive Manufacturing technology to address a broad spectrum of industrial, manufacturing, and humanitarian challenges. Open to ME/MET and related engineering students worldwide.

Student Section Grants
1. Start up Student Section Grants
The purpose of this grant is to provide seed money to the selected new student sections. Student Sections Enterprise will match the funds provided by the Student Section’s Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology Department to a maximum amount of $500 for up to twenty-four (24) selected new, startup student sections.
2. Multidisciplinary Humanitarian projects Grants
Two (2) Grants of $3,500 each are provided to select Student Sections to support an engineering-based humanitarian proposal outlining an innovative and impactful multidisciplinary project aligned with ASME strategy.
Outstanding Student Section Awards
1. Outstanding New Student Section < 3 years Award
Six (6) awards of $500 each to recognize new Student Sections that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, positive impact on students’ professional development and sustainable growth for the future.
2. Outstanding Student Section Award > 3 years Award
Ten (10) awards of $1,000 each to recognize Student Sections that have shown demonstrable leadership in developing and sharing content as well as the best practices with other student sections
3. Student Section Project Costs Award
SIX (6) project cost based awards of $500 to recognize and encourage creativity, resourcefulness and innovation for producing the best content/ most effective impact.
