In section V.D (Rollover Protection System) of the rules, it says:
"In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RPS in protecting body contact from the ground teams may be required, during safety check, to lay their vehicle on its side as well as invert it fully with the largest driver inside."
We have tested our roll cage like this before and had no issue, and we are able to do so again at the safety check if required. However, our vehicle has a full fairing that would likely crack were we to flip the vehicle over with it on. The fairing is not designed to be structural, only aerodynamic. The roll cage provides all the structural support. If the judges want us to flip the vehicle over for safety check, will we be allowed to remove the fairing first so as not to break it, and then flip the bike and demonstrate the strength of the roll cage?
I see that section V.Q (Modifications Affecting Safety) states that modifications are allowed between the safety inspection and the race as long as they do not compromise the safety of the vehicle. Would this fall under that category? Adding the fairing does not compromise the strength or load path of the RPS, or the safety of our vehicle as a whole.
Thanks!
