Hello, my team would like to participate in the ASME eHPV competition at Liberity University this up coming April and we would like some small clarification on the rps requirements. We are using a vehicle that was designed for previous competitions and we would like to know if the current rps falls within the requirments from the rules. The rules state that the rps must be primarily a countinous hoop or truss and there is this example image as well, since our rps looks a bit different than the example in the rules my team is reaching out to determine whether or not our current rps would be acceptable or if we would need to redesign. Attached are the images of the rules rps and a view of what the old/current rps on our vehicle looks like.

The RPS used on this vehicle meets the requirements for encasing the rider and preventing contact with the ground. You will want to make sure the RPS structure is capable of meeting the loads in Section V.D. (Safety.Rollover Protection System) of the rules. This should be evaluated virtually through analysis and validated through physical testing. The procedure and results for these should be presented in the design report.
