Meeting Notice - ASME Gas Turbine Technical Chapter
The Houston area ASME-International Gas Turbine Technical Chapter is dedicated to the design, manufacture, operation, maintenance and business of gas turbine based technologies. Every individual and organization with an interest in this technology is encouraged to participate (ASME membership is not required, but encouraged). Meetings are generally from 6 PM to 9 PM. We welcome everyone. Come as you are, we are a NOMEX/FRC friendly organization!

Marianne Duncanson and Ben Hartman will present basics of interpreting oil analysis reports, including tips on how and how often to sample, what tests are most relevant for different types of equipment and some limitations of test results. The presentation will contain information on the latest tests to predict varnish in turbine oil, but will also extend to other plant equipment. You will learn to dissect oil analysis reports to determine when to take corrective action to extend equipment life.

Speaker's Biography:
Marianne Duncanson has had over 40 years’ experience as a lubrication engineer for ExxonMobil. She spent over 10 years on the lubricants technical hotline answering application questions from around the world. She currently supports the Southeast Texas area as a field Lubrication Engineer. She has conducted industry presentations on Foam and Air Entrainment in Lubricating Oils, Oil/Water Demulsibility, Establishing an Electric Motor Greasing Program, Lubrication of Plain Bearings and Lubrication Best Practices, and has served on expert panels at Vibration Institute, the Turbo and Pump Symposium and other industry meetings. She was an original member of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) Oil Monitoring Analyst (OMA) committee, and was on the editorial board of the STLE magazine Tribology and Lubrication Technology. In her spare time she serves as a paramedic for Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department. She is Ooma to four awesome grandchildren and two dogs.
Mr. Hartman is the President of MRT Laboratories. On a daily basis he consults with customers across industries on oil analysis and its specific application to condition monitoring on a case by case basis. He maintains two STLE certifications, the CLS and OMA I. Mr. Hartman has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Rice University.

From Downtown, Highway 288 South and BW8 interchange:
- Take US HWY 288 South to Beltway 8 frontage road
- Take West BW8 or Sam Houston Parkway to Almeda road or exit and take the U-turn back to Almeda (roughly 3 miles)
- Turn right/South onto Almeda Road (southbound) and travel approximately 1 mile to Shadow Creek Parkway, FM2234
Note: There is a backway West via a right turn/West on Bluebonnet to West about 1/4mile on left. No curbs!!- Turn right/West onto FM2234 / Shadow Creek Parkway and travel approximately ½ mile to West Road on your right
Note: Lots of construction so the entrance is just after the Rolls-Royce/ProEnergy Sign on the right- Turn Right/North onto West road and travel approximately 750 feet to 15150 on the left
- Park on the left and come in the side entrance or look for the ASME signs
PLEASE NOTE: There is a lot of construction and traffic in this area so remain flexible and vigilant as traffic may change based on construction activities!!
