2018 – 2019 ASME Gas Turbine Meeting Notice – basic information below, but see attached meeting notice for more detail.

Meeting Summary:   Note special timing on tours and Safety Presentation in the Meeting Agenda Section!!!!

 

This presentation and facility tours will use a case study approach to outline the options available and how they can be combined to improve reliability and parts life.  Case studies will illustrate how coatings and material upgrades can achieve the following:

·        Minimal cost upgrades to maximize repair value

·        Repairs to avoid major asset replacement

·        Improved operating efficiency

·        Longer run cycles

·        Increased component life

·        Slower degradation of parts, translating to:

o   Reduced repair costs

o   Reduced repair lead times

o   Shorter outages

 

Meeting Agenda:
5:45 PM - 6:45 PM        Sign-In, Safety training and Networking – there is a 10 minute safety video everyone must view!

6:00 PM - 6:30 PM        Rotor and Stationary Bays Facility Tour – Last tour departs at 6:30!  Safety Gear:  Closed toed shoes with leather uppers are required.  Please bring safety glasses with side shields if you have them.

6:15 PM                        Chicken Buffet Dinner – Advise if you have special dietary needs (TheMobileGourmet.com)
7:00 PM                        Business & Announcements (many will be finishing dinner during the presentation)
7:15 PM – 8:15 PM       Presentation – Main Office Building

8:15 PM – 9:00 PM       Tour of Component Repair Bays – See some of the components discussed in the presentation!!

Speaker's Biography:
Garret Haegelin is the Superintendent of Sulzer Rotating Equipment Services’ Houston Coating Division.  He has 5 years of experience in turbomachinery repair, specifically industry refurbishment and modification coatings.  While at Sulzer, Garret has developed a broad background in thermal and air spray coatings for IGT rotors and components, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors and other process equipment.  Garret holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing an MBA degree at the University of Houston.

Directions: 

Sulzer Turbo Services, 11518 Old La Porte Rd, La Porte, TX 77571 (FM225 and State Highway 146)

From Downtown – South East Loop 610:

-        Take FM 225 East from Loop 610 approximately 14 miles to Sens Road (Just before SH 146 and you will see Sulzer on your right)

-        Take Sens Road South approximately 1000 feet to the Old La Porte Road U-turn.

-        Turn right/North onto Old La Porte and proceed back towards the freeway.

-        Turn left/West onto Old LaPorte Road and travel approximately 1000’ and look for the “ASME GTTC” Signs.

-        Park and look for the ASME signs


PLEASE NOTE:  There is a lot of construction at the BW8, 225 area so remain flexible and vigilant as traffic may change based on construction activities!!
