Thank you to Eagle High School for hosting a raffle, silent auction, and soup competition fundraiser for the Deaf Center and to all who attended to support last Friday, Jan. 8. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 7:30 - 10 pm, The Price is Right Interpreted show at Morrison Center, 2201 W Cesar Chavez Ln, Boise. Interested in going to a Morrison Center interpreted show? Call 426-1111 to purchase your tickets. There are *limited* reserved seats for the Deaf community. Interpreters are LaVona Andrew and Holly Thomas-Mowery. The following shows also have interpreters scheduled, but you can request an interpreter for any show they offer.

Saturday, Feb. 6, 9 am - 1 pm, FREE Video Conference: “Storytelling: Learn Techniques from a Master Storyteller and Make Stories Come Alive”
Tom Holcomb, Ph. D. Professor of Deaf Studies at Ohlone College, Fremont CA
Frustrated with trying to make a story come alive in sign language? This workshop will provide tips on how to be an effective storyteller, whether it is an original story or a story being retold. Differences between ASL and English discourse strategies will be examined. Differences between story reading and storytelling will be also compared. Research based techniques in making stories more visually appealing and accessible will be shared.

This free video conference is sponsored by IESDB and Idaho Dept of Ed. Video sites will be at ISU Meridian, ISDB in Gooding, ISU Pocatello, and Spokane Falls Community College. Registration is required. Interpreting math class can be challenging. Join us as and learn from an expert how to incorporate ASL features into your math interpretations to ensure accurate concepts are conveyed. The presenter will share his expertise in Math and teaching strategies. This workshop will be presented in ASL only.

Tues/Thurs, Jan. 19, 21, 26, 28, Feb. 2, 4, 12 - 1 pm, ISU Silent Lunch at Idaho State University Meridian Health Sciences Center, 1311 East Central Drive, Meridian, ID. At seating area outside of classrooms.  Every Tues & Thurs except Spring Break, walk in the doors and go straight until you see a bunch of people. We'll get to know one another and share stories. (That night, we can discuss future events that may include significant others, parents, and others.) The Magic Valley School of Performing Arts is presenting the play "Mary Poppins" at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Twin Falls. Two ASL interpreters will be interpreting and seated on the left side of the stage (house left). Tickets are not being held for the Deaf, so purchase early at the Orpheum theater or online at orpheum.ovationpac.com. Friday, Jan. 29, 6 - 9 pm, BVAD outgoing Officers are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner as a THANK YOU to the community for all of your support the past 5 years at First United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave Rd, Nampa, ID. FREE for all current and former members since 2011. $5 admission for visitors who has never been a member but still very much welcome. We will also be conducting our final General meeting with elections for new Officers. All positions are up for election: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member-at- Large. 
This meeting was to be held at the end of 2015 but the Board decided to postpone this to this month due to the hectic holidays.
