Idaho State University is pleased to announce that application process is open to join the Class of 2020 for a Bachelor of Science in Sign Language Interpreting! We are looking for candidates who will have completed 60 college credits or have an Associate's degree by August. Successful candidates will have at least four semesters of ASL *or* a high level of fluency. In addition, we welcome applicants who are Deaf, have Deaf family, and/or from minority groups.
ISU's Sign Language Interpreting program is taught by certified interpreters with years of experience, both teaching and interpreting. Students are supported throughout their learning opportunities in the classroom, in the Deaf community, and in the profession. Our program incorporates Deaf and interpreting mentors, Deaf tutors, professional organizations, and opportunities for practice and interaction with colleagues. Courses are scheduled in blocks of time to increase your scheduling efficiency. All courses meet in-person at our state-of-the-art campus in Meridian, Idaho.

The first step in our application process is to email an unofficial transcript and list of additional courses you will complete by August. Please send one email with this information to Elizabeth Schniedewind
morg...@isu.edu, Steven Stubbs
stub...@isu.edu and me
andr...@isu.edu. Your transcript will be reviewed within a few days and a response emailed to you. You do not need to send a cover letter or résumé at this time.
Those who meet our minimum requirements will be invited to proceed to the second and third stages of the application: an ASL interview and an online assessment. Please note the ASL interview will be conducted with a neutral Deaf person, who will provide feedback to you and to faculty. This step of the application costs $80, payable to the interviewer; there are no other application fees for this program.
We look forward to receiving your transcript and course list.
Warmly,
LaVona
