Dear colleagues,
My name is Mahmoud, and I’m a new researcher working with Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) on a Philips 3T MRI system. I am currently exploring ASL techniques—specifically PCASL and single-phase ASL—for a comparative study.
I would highly appreciate your guidance on the following:
How to set up and perform both PCASL and single-phase ASL on a Philips 3T scanner:
Step-by-step advice on scanning setup would be very helpful.
Recommended scanning parameters for each method, particularly:
How to process and analyze the data:
Any tips for placing ROIs and comparing tumor vs. contralateral normal tissue?
I’m just starting with ASL and would be grateful for any protocols, example workflows, or papers you recommend. Thank you in advance for your support!
Best regards,
Mahmoud Fawzi

I would suggest contacting Philips technical support for setting up their sequence. Some useful tips are: 1) labeling time 1.5-2s, 2) pld: 1.2-2.2s (old subjects need longer pld), 3) background suppression, 4) try to get more L/C pairs. Data processing should be similar to the example data we provided in ASLtbx.
