The Western Region Interpreter Education Center is excited to bring an intensive Health Care Training to Monmouth, Oregon in July.
This 3-day training will be presented by Lori Whynot, MA, CI, CT, SC:L and will be for health care sign language interpreters.
When:
Wednesday, July 18th, 1-5pm
Thursday, July 19th, 9am-5pm
Friday, July 20th, 9:30am-3:30pm
Where: Western Oregon University, 345 N Monmouth Ave, Monmouth, OR 97361
Registration Cost:
$140, if registration is received by 6/30/12.
$170, if registration is received after 6/30/12.
*** Registration includes access into Silent Weekend, July 20-22 at WOU.
Space is limited to 20 participants.
No registration at the door.
About: Interpreters working in medical settings are required to have numerous competencies, in addition to understanding a wide-range of complex terminology in order to be effective. Interpreters also need to have a solid ethical compass to guide decision-making in healthcare settings with providers and varied consumers.
This intensive three-day training is for interpreters with some experience in medical interpreting, who wish to discuss concepts in the medical milieu, including: HIPAA, legal considerations, advance directives, medical ethics, vicarious trauma, VRI work, domains, and competencies health care interpreters must possess.
CEUs: Up to 1.6 RID CEU’s available in the category of Professional Studies. No partial CEUs awarded.
Minimum Participant Qualifications: NIC, CI or CT.
For working interpreters in the Western Region: AK, WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, AZ, HI, Guam, Saipan, or American Samoa.
