Subject: Utah Pride Festival needs interpreters

Dear Membership, I have included below an email requesting interpreters for the Pride Festival.  It is a great experience and I encourage you to participate if you can.  Please contact him directly if you would like to volunteer your services and pass along to others you think may be interested as well. Thanks The details and contact person are in the email below:

Hello;
My name is Jeran Marceau and I am the Manager of ASL Services for Utah
Pride this year.  I am in the process of looking for 50+ interpreters
for our deaf and hard of hearing participants in Pride this year,
which takes place June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  The services from the
interpreters would be solely volunteer, and can be broken down into 3
hour sessions over the three days.  No volunteer has to stay the
entire day, however if they do, they are more than welcome to do so,
and it would be helpful if they could do multiple shifts on Saturday/
Sunday.  In being a volunteer they will be translating for different
performances, speeches, as well as in one on one conversations for
various patrons of Pride.  At this time I am requesting your
assistance in finding volunteers.  I want to state that the
interpreters *do not* have to be certified.  These volunteer
individuals can be people that come from deaf families, people who are
students in advanced classes, people who are experienced with sign
language but not quite yet certified, as well as certified
interpreters.  Any help in recruiting volunteers would be tremendously
appreciated as the Utah Pride Center wants to provide the best Pride
going experience for all their patrons regardless of ability.
To have interpreters sign up to volunteer, they need to go to www.utahpridefestival.org
  and fill out the volunteer application, stating their position as
"ASL interpreter" and using my name as the recruiter.  The cut off
date for sign up is May 20th.  I realize this is last minute and I
apologize, the original manager for ASL services unexpectedly had to
remove herself from the position due to a family crisis.  If you need
any other information, please do not hesitate to contact me via email,
or via text (801-867-1833).  I myself am hard of hearing but do not
have a VP at home, as I rely on my cell phone for texting.  Again, any
and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.  I am fairly new to the
Salt Lake area and am unsure of who else to contact besides you at the
deaf center.  If there are others I can contact that may be able to
assist in providing volunteers, feel free to pass my information to
them as well, and/or pass me their information if possible.  Thank you
so much for your time and have a great day.
Sincerely;
Jeran
