Ialways marinate my steak in ziplock bags which I acknowledge is not environmentally friendly, but it is the most effective way to marinade steak because it keeps the steak evenly coated with a relatively small amount of marinade.

My husband and I just used this recipe to make beef jerky. We marinated very thinly sliced beef in it for 48 hours and then dehydrated it in the oven at 175 degrees Fahrenheit for about 4 hours. PERFECTION. We have also made steak with it before. Best steak ever!

This is the first time I have ever tried making a steak and although only got to marinate it for about 6 hours or so, the end result was fantastic. I absolutely loved the marinade and so did everyone who ate it. Thank you Nagi.

Hi Nagi,

In response to Anna, the meat did look weird after being in marinade,

I cooked mine on a super hot grill plate, fast, with nice charred marks, was very tasty and juicy, Not dry at all. Perhaps it was the pan heat?

Oh I added 1 heaped tsp of chilli jam to my marinade.

Today I am sharing with you the BEST steak marinade! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Steak can be a little intimidating to cook, it used to be for me. I think it was because steak is usually so spendy and I never wanted to mess it up. We all know that when steak is done right, it is insanely delicious. With this marinade, I have created a foolproof way of guaranteeing your steak will taste heavenly. It is the perfect blend of spices and herbs that enhances the natural flavor of steak without being overpowering.

If you do not have an air fryer to cook your steak then cooking steak in the skillet is the way to go! It puts that perfect sear on the outside and then you can watch it carefully and let it cook to your desired doneness. Adding butter at the end just adds that extra touch that is crazy luscious. This marinade is perfect for grilled steaks too, and I love grilling as much as the next person, but this way I can cook it all year long, even when it is too cold outside to grill. You have to try this marinade and cooking it in a skillet too!

This steak marinade is packed with dried herbs, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. These ingredients all come together to give you such amazing flavor and the perfectly cooked juicy steak!

There are two ways that I use to make a steak tender. Acidic tenderizers are a great way to get a tender steak. I include lemon juice in my marinade to help to soften the steak. it breaks down the tough fibers in the meat. If you are starting out with an already tough cut of meat, I will also break down the fibers by pounding the meat before I cook it.

The muscle fibers in meat have to be broken down and the proteins turned into gelatin in order to make meat tender. This happens very quickly over high heat with tender cuts of steak like filet mignon, but tougher cuts of meat require slow cooking, usually in some sort of liquid to keep them from drying out.

As soon as your marinade is ready to go you add your steaks and let them soak up all of that delicious flavor. It also tenderizes as it marinates. The minimum to let these steaks marinate is 2 hours, but can also be marinated overnight. The flavor is seriously out of this world!

Everyone loves their steak done to different degrees and using a thermometer is the way to go to make sure you cook it just right. Remember too, when your steak is taken off the heat it will continue to cook for a minute or two, raising the temperature about 2-4 degrees more. I often remove my meat right before it reaches that perfect temp.

I love to cook my steaks in a skillet. It only takes minutes to get that crispy brown edge and medium cooked inside. But you can also use this recipe to grill. It is perfect for both. It is going to give your steaks the very best flavor!

Steak is juicy, tender and so good! If you love steak, you know that you do not need much to make it taste good. A good piece of meat will be naturally full of flavor. There are so many ways though to add flavor, texture and create fabulous meals with steak. It is important to compliment steak and not drown it in too much. These recipes are tried and true and taste divine. These are ways to have your steak and enjoy it in different ways too!

I love this marinade!!

I use this ever time I cook ribeyes and flank steaks but I was looking for a chicken marinade and this recipe is very similar to other chicken marinades. Do you think it would be good with chicken?

This steak marinade starts with a base of soy sauce and balsamic vinegar, which makes a perfect combination for tenderizing the meat. I whisk the soy and vinegar together with the oil, worcestershire sauce, honey, herbs, dry mustard, and garlic powder. All of these ingredients will infuse into the steak for big flavor. Add the steak and the marinade into a sealable bag, and chill for 15-20 minutes in the fridge before throwing your steak on the grill.

Chuck steaks, hanger, skirt, and flank will taste great after 20 minutes in the perfect steak marinade (thanks soy sauce and balsamic) but you can also lean toward leaving it in the bag longer to really seal in that flavor and make your steak as tender as you prefer, up to 24 hours.

Even though I swear by the 20-minute time on this marinade, you can soak it for longer. For example, if you have extra time or want to make this marinade in the morning or the night before, you can either make it and marinate it longer (up to 6 hours or overnight) or put it all together 20 minutes before you are ready to grill.

If you are using a lesser cut of steak, you can go longer to really tenderize it. If you get in a real pickle or forget about it, your steak will still be good to cook for up to 24 hours in a marinade.

Follow the recipe exactly. Marinated 2 skirt steaks for 5 hours. Then broiled this was the worst tasting marinade. I have ever had sounds like it should have been good but it was awful. Do not recommend this for anyone? I have been cooking for more than 60 years and I was even a caterer, but this was really bad. It needed a lot more work to make it taste good.

Yes! Because this marinade contains vinegar, which is a steak tenderizer, you can use it to tenderize and flavor any of your favorite cuts of steak. I do not recommend marinating an already tender cut, like a filet mignon.

For more tender steaks, like the sirloin pictured throughout this post, a ribeye or New York steak, I recommend a quick marinade between 20 minutes and 2 hours. For a tougher cut of steak, like a flank or strip steak, I recommend marinating for 4-8 hours.

Yes! Sirloin is one of the best cuts of steak for making shish kabobs. When using this marinade to make kabobs, I recommend cubing the steak, then adding it to the marinade. This means, more of the steak surface area gets to soak up the delicious marinade.

After marinating the cubes of steak for at least 20 minutes, skewer the steak by itself or with veggies like bell peppers and onions. Grill the steak shish kabobs over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes, flip and continue grilling for an additional 4-5 minutes.

This is by far the best marinade for the lesser expensive meats like round. Must be really awesome for sirloin and London broil. I let our 2lb steak in the marinade for 4 hours. Turned out really tender. Really enjoyed it.

I have to admit I have not tried this yet, but already love the comments. I have a question. I like to prepare food for the freezer ( especially for my husband lol) when he goes to our property. Anyway my question is one I have marinated the steak can I freeze right away for later

I began this blog in 2011 to share my favorite recipes with the world. Since then, I've shared over 1,300 original recipes on the blog, published a cookbook and appeared on news stations across the country! Sharing what I love with you is a dream come true, I'm so excited you're here!

This steak marinade recipe is made with olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, lemon, herbs and spices, and takes just 5 minutes to put together. It adds tons of flavor to any tender cut of beef and can be used for grilled, broiled or sauteed marinated steak.

I love to use marinades in cooking, it adds so much great flavor with very little effort. I regularly marinate grilled chicken tenders, grilled shrimp and marinated salmon, and I always have this amazing best steak marinade in my constant rotation.

This steak marinade is a blend of soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, Italian seasoning and spices. Mix everything together in either a bowl, airtight container or a gallon sized freezer bag. Add your steak, and give it at least one hour in the refrigerator to soak up all that great flavor!

I typically grill my steaks, either on an outdoor charcoal grill or inside on a grill pan. That being said, this marinade is perfect with sauteed or broiled steak, so go ahead and use whatever cooking method works best for you. Offer a variety of fabulous side dishes such as Olive Garden salad, make ahead mashed potatoes, Southern mac and cheese, funeral potatoes, carrot souffle or air fryer baked potatoes. Your family will thank you!

I love to use marinades, they infuse flavor and moisture into my favorite cuts of beef. You can opt to grill your marinated meat, sear it on a cast iron skillet, or broil it in the oven. It is DELISH all ways.

Hi Monica,

Thanks for your comment. We felt the flavor of this marinade was very different from a barbecue sauce (we have a low-FODMAP BBQ sauce recipe). However, we understand that different flavors appeal to different people! Have a great day.

Hi Patty,

Thank you for your comment. Actually, it is possible to purchase vegan worchestershire sauce. That is why we suggest checking your brand in the ingredient list. We appreciate you calling attention to that important detail!
