Dear All,

 

We are pleased to inform you that Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in association with Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (Exclusive Indian Law Firm Partner), the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Paris, the London Chambers of International Arbitration (LCIA)-India, and the Singapore International Arbitration Chamber (SIAC), Singapore, is organizing a two day Seminar themed Changing Face of Arbitration in India, at its campus on 28th- 29th March, 2014.

 

 

SESSIONS:

 

The Seminar shall be divided into four sessions spread over a period of two days28th and 29th, March 2014. The first day of the Seminar will be divided into three lectures comprising of topics in the field of International Commercial Arbitration, International Maritime Arbitration and Investment-Treaty Arbitration.

 

The second day will be divided into two panel discussions of which the first panel discussion will be on the benefits of institutional arbitration over ad-hoc arbitration. The rules of various Arbitral Institutions [ICC, LCIA and SIAC] will be discussed by the official representatives of each institute and there shall also be a discussion amongst such representatives so as to share best practices in the context of institutional arbitration.

 

In the second panel discussion, scholars, practitioners, experts, users and arbitration enthusiasts would come together to deliberate on how to make India a better seat of arbitration. This session will highlight the current case laws and grey areas in arbitration law. It will also discuss the role of the Indian legislature and judiciary in adapting to changes in order to address these issues.
