What does a WiFi explorer for Windows do? WiFi Scanner, a WiFi explorer for Windows, is an application that lets you scan and analyze your WiFi. I've upgraded to win 11 about 2 months ago and in the last weeks I have started experiencing a very annoying problem with the windows explorer.
It has become unbelievably slow, it's impossible to open any folder uless you wain maybe 50/60 seconds, but I've noticed that it works better (almost normal speed I would say) if:
In Private Network section, select these "turn on network discovery and its subordinate checkbox", "turn on file and printer sharing", then again use this address in windows explorer "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center" and make sure your ethernet adapter is a private network.
Now go to android, open your local network app (in this case es explorer, but this works for other apps as well), use the copied ip address in the host name/ip address textbox, use the copied username and password, and press connect.
So, the only way I got this working was to turn off password protected sharing. Then on es file explorer press and hold on my laptops icon in the network search then click the pencil at the top right then in domain entered the name of my laptop then entered my username and password and then that was it. I was able to see all my files but I cant get into the c drive only my files in my user folder are accessible and obviously public folders. So even turning off the password sharing it still seems secure.
- System fan is running, laptop working hard
- I can not click on windows icon (start), just does not respond
- I restart, does not change anything, same behaviour.
- I can click on the icons in the quick-launc, so I try to start chrome (but there is no wifi..no connection it says)
Then open the recovery option and then select get started and refresh your PC without affecting your files. This re-installs windows without trashing your data. As an extra precaution, make sure your data is backed up.
I would like to attempt a sfc /scannow fix from a boot USB repair disc CMD, but when I launch into it and try to repair my computer, there is no OS recognized which is strange. When I go to advanced boot options from windows and launch "repair my computer", it will show "Windows 7 on D: Windows7_OS" or something similar, D: drive being my SSD that boot files I believe are stored in. When I launch a CMD sfc /scannow from here though, it will consistently claim that "pending repair requires reboot" and refuse to continue with sfc. Is my partitioning wrong?
As of about 5 hours post-fix, it seems to have not crashed, and hovering over the wifi icon now does not make explorer crash! So you definitely fixed something, thanks a lot JohnC! The only thing is that the list of wifi networks does not pop up when I click on the network icon.
