There are a variety of ethics which are all systematic and every system has it strengths and weaknesses. My own view is morality is enforced by social and cultural taboos against certain types of humor. For example, one of the first things Hitler did was to make it treason to crack a joke against the Nazi party. He knew perfectly well a single joke could seriously undermine all his efforts. By suppressing some humorous avenues of exploration morality enforces the idea some things are just never funny and, thus, provides the blinders that are so common among people and societies. According to the National Science Foundation, one in five Americans still believes the sun revolves around the earth. If you think that's a problem education all I can say is "denial" is not the name of a river in Egypt.
