I've tried the extension but selecting text and choosing for instance "Explain to me" doesn't show anything.

Maybe try reloading the page and trying again?

In general Ask Steve is pretty limited with Arc because it has customized Chromium so much: https://www.asksteve.to/docs/where-it-works#browsers
