Actualizar Firmware Netgear Cg3100D Ono

I bought a 2nd hand netgear cg3100 modem. but the firmware of this modem has been changed by an internet provider and I cannot use it here. I searched for the original image of this modem on its page. but it does not exist as an image file. That I don't know.. it depends on what Skymesh tell you.. some will just be dhcp and some will use pppoe.. whichever they tell you. There must be instructions for connecting your computer to their service.. it will be the same using the router.
Test downloading a file and compare that to the speed you purchased.. ie if you test from -test/ to any ISP in your state you should get the full speed.. (using ethernet of course) that you signed up for.
Don't skimp.. you have the best type of internet in the country and it would be foolish to waste it on a router that Telstra tampered with making it a lousy piece of junk .. assuming it was somewhat above that before Telstra rewrote the firmware.
Let me check how the connection goes with the existing Netgear first. However incase it is lousy, could you recommend me something in the $100-$150 range. I dont need it to have any fancy features, i just need a good solid connection with good range and performance in torrents.
IMHO $220 or so for the Asus RT-AC68U is money well spent. It is hard to really suggest anything much cheaper because we know various aspects of the performance will be significantly worse. Or it simply is limited in scope of firmware, or resources etc.
See how the Netgear goes.. if you need something post back and we can go through the lists again... but I was just going through it and very little seems blinding good value.. I am waiting to see TP-Link C7 v2 or C5 get a gargoyle firmware and see how that proves real world. That might prove a good box.. and will be in your price range.. but IMHO TP-Link standard firmware is really limited. I would like the flexibility to do more.. and it is close to being ready for 3rd party. It might be the first gargoyle with AC.
OK so the nbn is now working although wired direct to my pc. The speed results are 23.9mbps (down), 4.6 mbps (up), latency 4ms. However when I tried to connect it to my netgear modem/router i cannot connect to the internet. I went to my modem login page (192.168.0.1) and disabled NAT mode. Then i went to 192.168.100.1 but unfortunately i cant find any settings there that could help.
Actually it does have 'Internet Wan' port, which is highlighted in Red. Also in my previous post i had said that i connected the cable from the nbn device (UNI D1) to the internet wan port on the modem.
Its a Netgear CG3100D-2 BPAUS, which is the modem Telstra provides to the cable users. I'll try and find a manual for this, unfortunately i think i threw away the box it came in which im sure would have had some manual.
The ONT (NBN) equipment will not work as a router and will not assign IP addresses to ALL the devices in your network. It will only 'handshake' with one MAC address and send all traffic to that only. So you need a router if you plan to plug anything more than one computer in.
Now the Telstra modem you have has a red ethernet port (WAN) on it which is technically designed for it to be plugged into the NBN ONT and used as a router. But I don't know if that is enabled? I doubt it.
I think it was designed for Tesltra to use as NBN equipment when customers migrated from HFC to Fibre.
Thanks monster. I plugged it in to that port and i just cannot get it to work. So yes you are most probably right and they must have disabled it. The link i sent above from telstra crowd support also hinted at this being disabled. Damn telstra! :(
I was in the same situation as the OP, signed up for Skymesh NBN FTTH, was previously with Telstra Cable. I am now using my Telstra-supplied Netgear CG3100D to connect to the NBN.
I had to go to the 'WAN Backup' page and enable the WAN port, then connect the NBN box to the WAN port of the CG3100D.
It supports the speeds required for NBN, a speedtest resulted in 94Mbps down and 38Mbps up (on a 100/40 plan).
I recently changed from Telstra cable to NBN cable via Telstra. The router was a downgrade in wifi performance with the supplied F@ST 5355. I used the link a few posts above to configure the Netgear CG3100D as surprisingly it offers better wifi performance. I'm a relative tech novice so hope this helps anyone else thinking about their options. I'm sure there will be a lot of people in a similar position once NBN HFC comes along....
hola contrate 30 megas me lo instalaron hace 3 dias y tengo el r06, y la verdad estabams contento con los 12 megas de sabeis si solucionan algo con este fw del que hablais? nos lo pondran a todos no? gracias por cierto, que es nat, yo lo desactive, como no note mejora lo volvi a activar , como veis no tengo mucha idea, me gustaria aumentar la seal wifi pues los test me dan como maximo 20 megas, eso con suerte jj
el forward de puertos funciona para todos (los que hemos probado) menos para el 443: cualquier cosa que enviamos al 443 desde el exterior no llega a su destino en la red interna, independientemente del destino mismo. El acceso desde la red local funciona bien, pero el acceso remoto bloquea el dichoso puerto.
por lo que entiendo tu tb has probado lo del forward del 443 y no funciona, con lo que es un problema de la nueva firmware, definitivamente el puerto 443 est bloqueado. Alguien mas puede probarlo para asegurar de que es un problema del firmware?
Viendo los comentarios me he animado a deshacer una chapuza DMZ que tena en el mdem-router de ONO y dejarlo nicamente como mdem y mi router Linksys E3000 haciendo la funcin que le toca. Se nota que la ltima versin han arreglado ese "pequeo" fallo de la reduccin de velocidad pero...
Yo tena el puerto 443 capado, no me hacia forward, y ahora con esta versin (la antigua) ya me va, eso si, he tenido que volver a configurar el forward pq al volver atrs la configuracin que tenia estaba mal (solo hay que borrarlos y volverlos a poner)
Prob a entrar con USUARIO: MSO y PASSWORD: 0n0Adm1Ni$tRaT0r y funcionaba, pero hoy, no pillaba la IP al iniciar el mdem y cuando he querido entrar, con stas ya no he podido, he reseteado el mdem y cuando he querido reinstaurar mi configuracin predeterminada de una copia de seguridad que tena, no me ha dejado hacerlo y he tenido que cargarla de nuevo manualmente, y sigue la ltima revisin del firm, no ha vuelto la R06b.
Lo que yo no entiendo es pq nos modifican el firmware del netgear a su gusto cuando es nuestro, lo mnimo que tendran que hacer es pedirnos permiso y que nos den las distintas versiones de firmware para que le pongamos la que nosotros queramos.
Con esta actualizacin nueva tengo problemas para conectarme a internet con el porttil.. no se que puede pasar pero se conecta al router pero esta sin acceso a internet, cosa que hace un da o dos no me pasaba...
Cuando tengan todo solucionadito, que hagan algo con el USB ese que est muerto de risa y al menos dejen usarlo para puerto para webcam e impresora. (Pedir que sea para disco duro externo ya sera pedir demasiado me da a mi).
Otro mas que le han cambiado el Firmware, y bloqueado el puerto 443. Me parece que me voy directamente a bajas, esta gente son unos impresentables. Van de puta madre los 50 Megas pero si me bloquean el puerto 50 me dejan a todos los usuarios sin Exchange, y encima la IP fija no funciona nada mas que con el Netgear, si pongo otro me da dinmica (aunque intente clonar la MAC). Vaya puta mierda, encima con nocturnidad y alevosia
Imposible pasar a cablemodem con el firmware V5.5.4.mp2_R09b - con la version anterior V5.5.2R06b todo funzionaba con el router neutro - ahora no dejar navegar en absoluto. Ni tan siquiera con el putty consigo acceder, a pesar de tener telnet activado no deja acceder para realizar alguna modificacin.
Alguna sugerencia???
Asi deberias tener internet, siempre que el router neutro este configurado para obtener IP de forma dinamica y no hayas dejado activada la red wifi del router de Ono si tienes algun equipo que se coencta de forma automatica al mismo.
Hola a todos, vengo de unos aprovechados 6 megas y paso a los 30. Oh sorpresa que funciona peor que los 6 ? en fin que buscando y leyendo mi netgear tiene la r09b y va bastante mal. Yo dispongo de un router propio con el que tena toda la configuracin de mi lan domstica. Con este nuevo router no puedo entrar a su telnet, ssh, slo web y los parmetros a configurar no me convencen. Pasar a utilizar este equipo como cable-moden es reversible? es decir cable-modem a mi router y de aqui a mi lan como antes. Si veo que no va bien puedo volver a activar el nat? para desactivarlo tengo claro que es con la direccin que habeis puesto algunos compaeros "cito 192.168.100.1/RgNatControl.asp" Como puedo volver a activar el nat?
