I have tried reset steps with the printer's manual power/stop controls to reset the waste ink counter without success. Understand i can do that with the assist of the above service mode tools... but can't find a direct safe download source for either version.
I've downloaded the correct service tools and used two appropriate softwares to open them on my mac since they are Windows files. That was successful... but my Canon MG6100 printer won't respond/sync with the service tool... and used a USB connection as instructed And I haven't discovered a manual way to reset the counter. I think I'm against a rock and hard place. I just needed it to last through Xmas

Il permet de rinitialiser les compteurs de votre imprimante aprs l'avoir mis en mode maintenance. Un peu comme le moteur d'une voiture qui aurait 100 000 km au compteur.
Ce logiciel est disponible en diffrentes versions sur la toile : v5204, v5103, v3600, v3400 ... Vrifiez bien qu'il ne contient pas de virus connu avant de l'utiliser depuis un site comme VirusTotal par exemple.
Attention, ce logiciel sous Copyright Canon ne semble pas tre adress au grand public mais plutot aux services de SAV. Les conditions d'usage de ce logiciel ne sont pas bien dfinies par Canon, aucune information officielle de Canon sur le Web semblent indiquer l'interdiction de l'utilisation de celui-ci.
Si jamais une erreur de type 009 est remonte par Service Tool, sachez que votre problme est probablement d'origine matriel. Essayez de remplacer les cartouches, si ce n'est pas suffisant, nettoyez les ttes d'impression avec de l'eau ou un produit ddi ...
Et si le nettoyage l'eau n'est pas suffisant, vous devrez changer la tte d'impression de l'imprimante. Malheureusement, les ttes d'impression d'origine coutent gnralement plus cher qu'une imprimante neuve. Une astuce pour acheter ses ttes d'impression le moins cher possible est de passer par JH Store sur AliExpress qui propose des ttes d'impression gnriques.

I have a canon MG5250 and have tried what you suggested above, but I can't get it into service mode - I switch the printer off, then when I press the 'on' button and keep it held down the green light stays constantly on and the screen is blank. I press the stop button 6 times but there is no changing of lights, and when i release it, the printer just starts up as normal. I'm assuming it is the stop button? The button with a red circle on, with a red triangle within the circle?
