Getting Request timed out error without waiting for the time set

Even i have set the timeout to 30 seconds, i get a `Request Time Out`
error message few seconds after the request is made. (Without waiting
for 30 seconds)

this is how i initialized the time out.

request.timeOutSeconds=30;
