The Assistive Technology Initiative at George Mason University is pleased to bring you a free webinar entitled:

"Multiple Perspectives on Implementing Web Accessibility in Higher Education"

Join us for this 90-minute webinar where accessibility professionals in higher education and the federal government will engage in an interactive discussion on strategies for addressing web accessibility challenges at their respective institutions.

Presenters:

Kara Zirkle:  IT Accessibility Coordinator, Assistive Technology Initiative, George Mason University

Kara Zirkle has over 12 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities and education/outreach. She has worked at George Mason University as the IT Accessibility Coordinator for close to 6 years. She works to ensure that technology is accessible to faculty, staff, and students and public both with and without disabilities. She specifically looks at Section 508 compliance for the University as a whole, which includes but not limited to: web and document accessibility, captioning of videos, transcript for audio and purchasing and procurement of applications.

Christopher Moy:  ADA Coordinator, Montgomery College

Christopher Moy is the Director of ADA Compliance at Montgomery College.  Montgomery College is a large community college, serving over 60,000 students, with three campuses and multiple offsite locations.  Christopher is responsible for ensuring compliance with the ADA and Section 504 in the area of student services, facilities, and technology resources.  Christopher has a MS in Counseling and a MS in Education Law.

Judith Risch: Attorney, Office of Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education

Judith Risch is an attorney with the Office of Civil Rights, within the U.S. Department of Education.  She has been in this role for 10 years and has experience handling many different types of cases, including those regarding web accessibility.
