The Assistive Technology Specialist will provide leadership in increasing the accessibility of the VCU computing environment for persons with disabilities and serve as the primary resource on assistive technology issues for the university. The assistive technology specialist will also: evaluate and coordinate assistive technology devices, upgrades and installations; evaluate the assistive technology needs of students with disabilities; identify both current and future assistive technology trends; maintain the university inventory of assistive technology equipment, hardware and software. Finally, the assistive technology specialist will assist in ensuring the accessibility of university library workstations/labs, program labs, technology labs and distance learning courses. Selected candidate may work some evening hours.
