GKIDS Invites ASIFA-Hollywood Members (+1 Guest) to an In-Person Screening of "DECORADO" |
|
Rated PG-13, Runtime: 98 Minutes GKIDS proudly presents “DECORADO” from Director Alberto Vázquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, Unicorn Wars). Adapted from the acclaimed 2016 short film of the same name, Decorado blends biting humor with haunting beauty in a darkly comedic odyssey through our era of social control, manufactured realities, and the quest for authentic human connection.
GKIDS will bring Decorado to North America theatres in its original Spanish with English subtitles and in a new English-language dub beginning May 15.

Jorge Gutierrez and Silver Lake Shorts Present: El Guapo Vs The Narco Vampires |

Runtime: 70 Minutes, Rated PG-13 The Narco Vampires are coming out to fiesta this Cinco De Mayo! We’re pumped to present the first ever live screening of Jorge Guitierrez' original pilot, “El Guapo Vs The Narco Vampires.”
Three minutes of the pilot are fully animated and the rest is an action packed animatic@ We’ll also be screening an original Jorge short and have a Q+A with him. All ticket sales go towards funding the Silver Lake Shorts filmmaker fellowship program.

ASIFA-Hollywood is proud to announce the addition of our stellar new Board Members added this past year!
Vani (Saraswathi Buyyala) CEO and Creative Director of Dancing Atoms Studios, Vani oversees the development of original animated and live-action films. She is President Emeritus of ASIFA India and she leads the Women in Animation India Collective, promoting talent and inclusivity.
David Silverman David is a producer and director, known for The Simpsons (1989), Monsters, Inc. (2001) and The Simpsons Movie (2007) as well as many other animated films and shorts. David directed the theatrical short "The Longest Daycare" starring Maggie Simpson, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. He has been a member of AMPAS since 2008 and is currently a consulting producer and occasional director on The Simpsons.
Ashley Barber Ashley is an award-winning producer, army veteran, and volunteer for both the Producers Guild of America and the Motion Picture & Television Fund. He currently works as a Project Manager in Custom Content at Illumination Entertainment after finishing his run at Nickelodeon on the highly successful animated series "Shimmer and Shine".

2026 BRIC Animation Co-op Grant Program is Now Accepting Application |

The BRIC Foundation in partnership with Legends Animated, is excited to launch the 2026 Animation Co-op Grant—awarding $10,000 to support the formation of an animation creator cooperative made up of three or more individuals committed to telling inclusive stories. As the industry evolves, these organizations believe in creators joining forces to build sustainable, values-driven businesses. Inspired by conversations at the BRIC Summit, this grant supports the growing worker co-op movement—putting creators first, fostering collaboration, and advancing inclusive storytelling. This grant program is also supported by the United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives and the Sustainable Economies Law Center. Ready to apply? 2026/2027 AEF Faculty Grant Program |

ASIFA-Hollywood's Animation Educators Forum (AEF) is now accepting applications for the 2026/2027 Faculty Grants program. The Faculty Grants program is designed to provide support for individuals or groups with reasonable expenditures associated with research, scholarly activity, or creative projects in the field of animation. Applications from animation faculty around the world are welcome! The application deadline is Friday, May 22, 2026, and recipients will be announced in mid-June. Awards will range from US$1,000 to a maximum of US$5,000 per applicant. Expenditures must occur for the year running from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Submissions are online only through our submission site at: http://grants.animationeducatorsforum.org/. The guidelines for applying for the AEF Faculty Grants are found here. All ASIFA-Hollywood’s Animation Educators Forum members are eligible for Faculty Grants. ASIFA-Hollywood's Animation Educators Forum (AEF) is pleased to announce that this year's Student Scholarship program is now open!
This is an international opportunity designed to help students complete their education in accredited college-level animation programs. Applications are accepted from undergraduate students entering the sophomore year or higher and from graduate students working toward degree completion.
The awards of up to $5,000 USD may be applied to tuition, books and supplies, animation equipment (including computer hardware or software), formal academic research (including travel), and senior or graduate thesis work.
