53rd Annies Call for Judges |
|
Individuals in the animation community interested in serving as a nomination committee judge can find the application at https://members.asifa-hollywood.org/judges/apply. Applicants must have an established career in animation and exemplary professional credentials in at least one of the Annie Award categories.
Annie Judge candidates do not have to be members of ASIFA-Hollywood, but, whether having applied in the past or are applying for the first time, need to submit an application. An application does not guarantee a committee position, but if you are selected, you will spend a few hours in December reviewing your committee’s submissions online and then meeting for the final nominee selection. Meetings can be done online, so judges from outside of LA are welcome.
The 53rd Annie Judge Application deadline is Monday, October 13th, 2025 |

Director Shunsaku Hayashi invites ASIFA-Hollywood Members to a Virtual Screening of invisions (monument) |
|
Rated G, Runtime: 74 Minutes The film begins with an absurd scene: a sunrise viewed through a wire fence. As sunlight filters through the barrier, the sun appears fragmented, transforming from a singular entity into multiple forms. As the sequences progress, the point of view shifts between subjects, with each perspective rooted in a different place and time zone. The memories carried within bodies drive their transformation into new entities. The story unfolds by linking these individual memories— etched in the body-with touches of violence and the traces left behind in the wake of oblivion.

|
GKIDS proudly invites ASIFA-Hollywood to screen “100 METERS,” from Director Kenji Iwaisawa (On-Gaku: OUR SOUND) based on the manga by Uoto. An Annecy 2025 official selection, the film is a high-octane story about brotherhood and pushing yourself to the limit using the unique rotoscoping animation technique.
100 METERS follows Togashi, a track star who is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without effort. But in sixth grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. In teaching him, Togashi gives Komiya a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, and Togashi and Komiya meet again as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.

Triple-Oscar-winning, world-renowned animator Richard Williams’s legendary career in the world of animation is brought to the page for the first time.
Written with his wife and collaborator, Imogen Sutton, Adventures in Animation follows the life of this pivotal figure in animated features. Williams’ place in animation history is assured: he directed the Academy Award-winning 1971 adaptation of A Christmas Carol and worked as Director of Animation on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, for which he won two Academy Awards.
Williams’ first book, The Animator’s Survival Kit, saw him pass on his hard-won craft to future generations of animators. In Adventures in Animation, the story of the man behind the images will inspire them all over again.

SHORT FILM OF THE MONTH: NO VACANCY |
|
Rated G "This short stems from the idea of trying to represent how thought works and unfolds, not what we think, but how our minds shift and flow from one thought to another. I’ve always been curious about how similar, or different, our streams of consciousness might be, and in making this film I attempt to represent my own. No Vacancy uses a memory-inspired structure that makes it less about independent events and more about how recurring snippets of memory come together to form a single emotional whole. I’m hoping the viewer might find a connection by seeing their own similarities to the way the film portrays the inner workings of the mind." - Director Miguel Rodrick
