ASIFA-HOLLYWOOD'S ADVISORY BOARD |

ASIFA-Hollywood has just announced the selection of its new 16-member Advisory Board. This new board was hand-selected by ASIFA-Hollywood's board of directors and will meet twice a year to exchange ideas, review progress, and help shape ASIFA-Hollywood's strategic goals.
The new ASIFA-Hollywood Advisory Board Members are Brenda Chapman, Margie Cohn, Pete Docter, Dave Filoni, Matt Groening, Jorge R. Gutierrez, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Tomm Moore, John Musker, Ramsey Naito, Chris Prynoski, Sandy Rabins, Peter Ramsey, Linda Simensky, and Tom Sito.
“We’re especially excited to share with our new advisory board upcoming initiatives, including enhancements to the Annie Awards™, new outreach programs, and expanded educational efforts to support our animation community, says ASIFA-Hollywood Executive Director, Aubry Mintz. “The perspective and expertise of these members will help to shape our various initiatives in meaningful ways, and can help guide ASIFA-Hollywood through exciting, impactful growth.” |

Announcing the 53rd Annual ‘CALL FOR ENTRIES’
List of Deadlines (Earlier Submissions Cost Less!)
Early Deadline: September 8th, 2025
Standard Deadline: October 13th, 2025
Late Deadline: November 9th, 2025
ASIFA-Hollywood has posted the 53rd Annie Awards Call for Entries! For submission rules and information, please visit https://annieawards.org/rules-and-categories. The deadline to submit projects for consideration is Sunday, November 9th, 2025, by 5 pm PST.
Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the 52nd Annie Awards™ covers 37 categories, including Animated Feature, Animated Feature-Independent, TV/Media Production, Sponsored Production, Short Subject, and Student Films, along with Achievement and Honorary awards.
Production and Achievement submissions will be from animated productions that were released in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

53rd Annies Submissions for Juried Awards |
|
Juried Awards honoring unparalleled achievement and exceptional contributions to animation. Categories include our highest honor, the Winsor McCay Award in recognition of lifetime or career contributions, the philanthropic June Foray Award for benevolent influence, the Ub Iwerks Award for technical advancement, and the Special Achievement Award for unique accomplishment not recognized within the existing award category structure.

ASIFA-Hollywood's Annual Membership Drive has officially started! The deadline to join ASIFA-Hollywood or to renew professional-level memberships and register to participate in the 53rd Annie Award™ voting is midnight Friday, January 26th, 2026.

Now may be the best time to enroll, renew, or upgrade to an ASIFA-Hollywood professional or patron-level membership and, if you have not already done so, submit your Annie voter application to participate in the 53rd Annie Award™ voting process. SILVERLAKE SHORTS MONTHLY SCREENING |
|
Silver Lake Shorts is a Los Angeles-based monthly short film screening series and 501(c)3 non-profit celebrating Los Angeles-based filmmakers, animators, and comedians. The screening is held at the historic venue El Cid in Silver Lake, CA. It is entirely free to submit and free to attend. It takes place once a month, running about 90 minutes. Per screening, every month our shows typically fill to capacity, so come on out to the next screening and see what it's all about! If you can't make it to this month's screening, there's always next month!

Join us at the LightBox Expo! We have a great opportunity for six ASIFA pro or patron members to showcase or sell their work and network with the LightBox community. If you are interested in exhibiting this year, we are offering dedicated time slots at ASIFA-Hollywood’s booth from Friday, October 24th to Sunday, October 25th.
We are inviting established professionals with experience in the entertainment industry, including film, games, and television, to apply. The committee will also evaluate how the opportunity will benefit or further the member’s career.
Deadline: August 31st, 2025. We will inform those selected by September 30th.

A CRAB IN THE POOL is a 2D animated short film. It was born through the urge to create: life is short and we have so many stories to tell! The two directors are also a couple in real life and we were affected by cancer; the film allowed us both to fulfil ourselves as artists, but also to exorcise our demons. With all the love the film has received, we believe we've been able to bring some comfort to people's lives. For a moment, we’re all watching together and we're not alone anymore.
This film is intended only for mature audiences. |
