Animation Educators Forum's Animation Salon |
ASIFA-Hollywood's Animation Educators Forum will host its eighth salon event - Mr. In-Between: My Life in the Middle of the Animation Revolution with animator Bill Kroyer on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 11 am PST on Zoom!
Mr. In-Between: My Life in the Middle of the Animation Revolution is the fascinating and hilarious story of one of animation's computer graphics pioneers, Bill Kroyer, as he made his way to Hollywood and became a key figure in the technical revolution of animation's "Second Golden Age.” Kroyer offers an artist's perspective on the fundamental principles of animation, from the basic mechanics of motion to the immersive, artistic experience of visualizing and bringing to life the performance of an imaginary character.
During this salon, Kroyer will present his book and share his experiences as an Oscar®-nominated director of animation and computer graphics commercials, short films, movie titles, and theatrical features. From 2009 to 2020, Kroyer served as Director of Digital Arts at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University in Orange, California, where he now holds the title of Professor Emeritus.

SHORT FILM OF THE MONTH: A CRAB IN THE POOL
A CRAB IN THE POOL is a 2D animated short film. It was born through the urge to create: life is short and we have so many stories to tell! The two directors are also a couple in real life and we were affected by cancer; the film allowed us both to fulfil ourselves as artists, but also to exorcise our demons. With all the love the film has received, we believe we've been able to bring some comfort to people's lives. For a moment, we’re all watching together and we're not alone anymore.
