To: "kanwar.j...@gmail.com" <kanwar.j...@gmail.com>

Dear Colleagues,

RESOLVE is pleased to announce the completion of the selection process for the 2016 Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) Civil Society Organization (CSO) Observer Selection process. As the role of an observer is to represent the interests and concerns of CSOs from their region, we hope this announcement of the results will help CSOs around the world identify and communicate with their regional CSO observer.

The following organizations have been selected to represent the CSOs in their region:

Africa Region

Asia-Pacific Region

Latin America-Caribbean

Northern Countries

Pan African Climate Justice Alliance

Mithika Mwenda
KENYA

Institute of Sustainable Development

Kanwar Muhammad Javed Iqbal

PAKISTAN

Red Mexicana de Organizaciones Campesinas Forestales A.C.

Gustavo Sanchez Valle

MEXICO

Environmental Defense Fund

Chris Meyer

UNITED STATES

The selection process included an application and voting phase. The voting phase of the FCPF CSO Observer Selection process consisted of three main stages: voter registration, voter verification, and voting. During the voter registration process, requests for registration were reviewed to ensure the organization was based in a REDD+ country, the mission of the organization was reasonably relevant to the mission of FCPF, and each organization and individual was only registered to vote once. If an application for registration was flagged for any of these concerns, then RESOLVE reached out to the organization via email in order to address the concern and verify the registration. After registration was verified, voting CSOs were assigned a voting registration number to be used when submitting a vote. These CSOs received instructions to vote, including a link to the ballot and their registration number via email. After voting closed, each vote was reviewed to verify ensure the organization, email address, and registration number associated with that vote match the registered information. A full description of the process is available on our website.

The detailed voting results are available on the RESOLVE website.

The RESOLVE team would like to thank the CSOs who participated in this process for their time and thoughtful comments throughout the application and selection phases. We have made every effort to ensure the process was transparent and accessible to civil society representatives from around the world. A final report summarizing the process used and recommendations for the future will be posted on the RESOLVE website. Your feedback is welcome; if you have suggestions or comments, please contact us at mbreitbu...@resolv.org.

For questions or comments about the overall FCPF observer role, please contact the FCPF Secretariat, which serves as the observers’ primary point of contact throughout their terms.

Best regards,

Maya Breitburg-Smith, Karam Ahmad, Laura Bartock, Jessica Ordonez, and Eva Paul
