I am kind of unsure of the idea of the Eighthfold path. I understand
that it is a way a to attain nirvana and that is a an eight method of
reprogramming oneself. But how does it work? Is there more to the
working that just the eight corrections that it suggests?

Another question is how are the meanings to dharma related?

It works by the practitioner trying to act in accordance with the
Path. This is a very hard thing to do. It takes quote a long time.
One realizes that one has attachments one did not know one had, that
one can get attached to the idea of attaining nirvana, etc.
