Hi everyone,

We are beginning preparations to conduct a first time Delta for our transgender programme here in Thailand. We have 2009 TraC research to help inform the planning but I am looking at what other information we can gather to build a more complete and current picture of the situation.

I remember discussion during the Delta leadership training about conducting a Flash FoQus, which we could probably do in Thailand before doing the Delta. Could someone who used the Flash FoQus technique for their platform provide information on how you went about it.

Thanks,

Alex.

Hey All,

Thank you for bringing this up Alex. It would be of great help to PSI/India too. We are looking at doing a Flash FoQus among pharmacists and consumers, for the Medical Abortion component of the WHP program.

Look forward to your replies.

Thanks and regards
Kiran

Hi Alex,

I know that Lesotho (Hope is cced here) used this for their female condom program... I'm ccing Esther and Gary as they should help point you to where this has been done in Asia too.

The key is having a few narrow questions you are trying to answer (it's quick after all and can't answer everything).  For example some countries have used it to understand what attributes their target group prefers in condoms and what they think of different brands.  If you and your team can come up with the most important things you want this to give insight into, I'm sure we can help you come up with ideas for activities to elicit that information...

Best,
Jen

Dear Alex/Kiran and all,

I haven't yet taken a look at Flash Foqus. From my past qualitative experience, we conducted Super Group which is a co-creation process which brings together creative consumers, clients, category and design experts to generate ideas and turn the winning ideas into new concepts ready for immediate testing. I'm not sure if this is something that you want to do?

Key is 'structure topic guide' with techniques to bring out consumer insights, right creative problem-solving exercises.

I will pay attention in the selection of your pharmacists - in the marketing term, they should be 'Creative Consumers'. This will maximise creativity and provide and outside-in perspective to what you need to achieve - - enlightening new ideas, out of the box to be your final selection of winning concepts to be developed.

Jen has shared with us some techniques that you can use during facilitation which should help bring out good ideas. I will try to see if I can dig into my old deck from my marketing consultant firm to share :)

Good luck Alex/Kiran and hope all is well,

Rakdaow
