Hi Code Monkeys,

Is there an easy way to find a variant protein or coding sequence in the databases, e.g. human F508del-CFTR?

I can find the reference sequence in many places and indeed it has F in position 508. I can also find the reference sequence annotated with variations.

So it is possible to derive the variant sequence. But for some educational work, it would be great to get straight to FASTA-format protein and/or coding sequence for a range of variants. I am sure there will be a way – surely F508del-CFTR has many sequences in GenPept and GenBank, for example? What kind of query will get me there?

Thank you,

Daniel
