Hi everyone and happy new year!

Dress code for class is as, Pradeep says, smart casual. It's important to
have at least one smart suit for more formal events such as project
interviews, but people tend to wear whatever they feel comfortable in on a
day to day basis. Jeans etc are fine.

See you soon
Rebecca

Hi,

HNY 2010 as well. Just a quick question on getting the following organized if anyone can offer any advice:

-Opening a bank account (any bank on a recommendation list?)
-Phone subscription (pre/post paid) what is more economical? Any preferred providers?
-1st day of class-is this formal?

My address from Jan 7th, 2010 is:

4 Callard House 221-223 High Street  BERKHAMSTED Herts HP4 1FD

Will share further details once available. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Best Regards,

Tanya

Happy New Year to you too Rebecca!! ... and, thanks for the info on
the dress code. I'll definitely come prepared for the formal
events ... and I'm so glad Jeans are allowed! =)

I have the same question as Tanya regarding phones .... I have a
blackberry ... I need a plan for emails/blackberry messenger/minimal
phone minutes .. I don't plan to use my cellphone for a lot of talk
time ... but I NEED my blackberry messenger to work!!

Tanja and all,
Just a few comments based on my experience so far.

I have opened my bank account at Llyods in Berkhamsted.  The manager said she will come to Ashridge on 19th Jan for anyone want to open the account.  I believe this is the most convenience occasion for anyone comes to the UK right before the course.
If you want to open the account before this, you can just go there and it will take 30 minutes or so.  For my case, I showed a water bill, which has my name and adress in the UK, and  acceptance letter of Ashridge. With these, I've got a saving account and a current account with VISA debit card.  She also explained me that it is very difficult to get Credit Card as students since we do not have banking history in the UK.

I bought a mobile phone at Carphone on Berkhamsted high street.  I believe this is the only shop for the phone in Berkhamsted.   If you want to explore more, you can go to Hemel Hempsted, 10 minutes from Berkhamsted.  There are many phone shops including general phone shops like Carphone and specific phone company's shops such as T-Mobile, Virgin and O2.   Even said so, I believe Carphone at Berkhamsted is good enough.
I have chosen Pre-paid as I do not believe I use the mobile a lot.

My adress in the UK is " 3 Elm Court Elm Grove, Berkhamsted.  It is just a few minutes walk from callard house.  Please call me if youget here.  077-2201-0332.
