Dear CTTC Chairs

The first half of your term has ended and it is time of year that we start looking ahead.  As a general guideline, I would like you all to advise the following for the remaining calendar:

1.         Promote ASHRAE’s April 19, 2012 WebCast “Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems: A Path to Balancing Energy and IEQ” to anyone that may be interested in your region (i.e., not just Chapter members).  The WebCast is free to all but you must register to view it.  The Webcast will be live on April 19 and available to view as an archived file until early May.  If you plan to host a group viewing (either live or later using the archived version), start planning for it now. For details on the webcast or hosting, go to http://www.ashrae.org/membership--conferences/webcasts

2.         Encourage the designers of significant design projects in your Chapter area to consider submitting their project into the ASHRAE Technology Award competition.  Consider hosting a “Technology Award dinner meeting” at which Award winners and their clients are present certificates.  Submissions that did not place in the society level competition are worthy of praise because they were Regional competition winners.

3.         It is mandatory for you to complete Program Evaluations for DL visits to your Chapter, as per instructions in the DL information package from ASHRAE.  These evaluations are used by DL program administrators to assess DL performance.  Your fair and frank evaluations also help DLs improve their presentations.

4.         PAOE (Presidential Award of Excellence) is a scorecard which gives points for specific activities ASHRAE thinks are important for Chapter and Society success.  RVCs review PAOE to assess Chapter progress.  Please try to update your Chapter’s CTTC PAOE table monthly.  Keep a written record of specific activities for which PAOE points are claimed.

5.         Finally, if you will be continuing as a Chapter Chair for CTTC for another term, that’s great.  Now is good time to identify and ask others you would like to help with your duties next year.  If you are moving on, please take time to brief your successors about on your position, potential programs and activities which you contemplated but did not present, Tech Award candidates to follow up on, etc.  Pass on “What is the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC)?” to help them understand the scope of the position.

We are always interested in your comments regarding the tools and resources CTTC makes available to you, including the effectiveness of CRC training.  If you have ideas on how we can improve what we do or for things we aren’t but should be doing, speak up.”

Kind regards

Ashish Rakheja

Regional Vice-Chair

CTTC
