Wednesday’s ABC Ride
We’ve planned a really short and scenic route for Wednesday that most of our riders should find fairly easy although there are several hills.

At just 21.1 miles, the ride is long enough to provide a solid workout but short enough to still be a part of our spring warmup series.

The route includes some great roads and bike paths such as Dutton, the Mass Central and Bruce Freeman Rail Trails, Water Row, Powder Mill Rd and Marlboro Rd.   There’s also an optional mid-ride lunch stop at Verrill Farm.

Here’s a link to a map of Wednesday’s route:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54833951

You can print our “official cue sheet” for the ride by clicking the link above, then click “More”, then click “Print Map and Cue PDF”, and finally click “Print Official”.

Off the Route
Our “Off the Route” feature includes tidbits we’ve come across that we think are worth sharing.  Please let us know what you think.

Are you bike riding just for physical health? Or perhaps for something more?
Bike riding, in the most elementary view, can help you build muscle and overall body strength. But, in a far more subtle way, it can be so much more.

Just getting out in the sunshine has a way of working its unspoken magic. And all the natural scenery is good for the soul. Add these ingredients to the camaraderie we bike riders share and there are few better hobbies to engage in.

This article takes an in-depth look at the often-overlooked side of cycling:  https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/health/how-riding-a-bike-smoothes-the-rough-edges-of-ageing

You say “tomato”
Nothing can compare to a homegrown tomato.  For most store-bought tomatoes, you would probably be better off eating the packaging they come in.

I plant a bunch of backyard tomatoes every year.  I started off planting them in the ground, then in a raised bed, and lately in giant pink plastic flowerpots that have seen better days. I’ve been thinking about replacing them until I read the article linked below.

Has anyone tried this?

We’ll meet on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Haskell Field in Sudbury.

Remember to check your email after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday to make sure the ride was not cancelled or postponed due to weather or other reasons. And, as always … don’t forget those helmets!!
