Wednesday’s
Weather
Wednesday’s
forecast
calls for a cool
and cloudy day with
temps ranging from 62 to 65 degrees.
There’s a slight chance of a passing shower so be sure
to monitor your
email before you leave your house. If the forecast worsens,
we’ll move the ride
to Thursday. A windbreaker or light jacket is highly
recommended.
Wednesday’s
Ride
This route, now at version VIII, has
been
updated many times to make it both safer and more scenic. The route is 29.5 miles
long, has a few tough
hills but lots of flat sections, tons of amazing scenery, and …
Oscar’s.
The scenery on the route offers many heavily wooded areas, a few farms, several water views, and even short sections on the Bruce Freeman Trail and the Assabet River Trail.
Oscar’s is a most unusual Mexican restaurant. There’s some outdoor dining available and also a screened porch with picnic tables. There are plenty of indoor tables, too. The food is not only really good but it’s really cheap as well.

Cup a
Joe and a Nap?
Like many people, I get most of
my
medical advice from the Popular Mechanics website. Those guys
always seem to
have their stethoscopes on the pulse of what’s happening in
the world of
medicine.
Why do they call it “joe”? Click here ..,
I actually tried to follow this advice but couldn’t make it work. One cup of coffee and I’m up all day.
Anyway, let me know if this works for you.

Speaking
of Induction
Stoves
Several years ago, when our really old electric stove stopped
working, we
decided to try an induction stove. We
love it.
We didn’t have gas lines on our street and there had been lots of very negative press about the increased cancer risk gas stoves cause. You can read about gas stoves and health here.
But even induction stoves can pose health risks to certain individuals.
If you or someone you know has a pacemaker, the article below has some safety tips you should know about.
See you Wednesday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. at 406 Commonwealth Ave, West Concord in the LOWER lot.
Remember to check your email Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. to make sure we didn’t have to postpone the ride and … don’t forget those helmets!!
Oh, and one last thing …
A tip of the helmet to ABCer Marybeth Spellman who sent us this amusing and instructive cartoon on how to wear (and not wear) a bike helmet:

See you soon!!
