Hi everyone.
The Ashland Bike Club’s next ride has been scheduled for this Friday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. from the Exchange Street parking lot in downtown Holliston. As much as ABC prefers to ride on Saturdays and Wednesdays, sometimes the weather-gods make other plans for us! Make note that this ride is scheduled for FRIDAY!!!
GPS address: opposite 49 Exchange Street, Holliston
Route name: ABC – Spring Warmup 7
We plan to ride at a slower-than-usual pace to encourage folks who are not quite “up-to-speed” to give riding with the club a try. Our “spring warmup” ride series is the perfect way to get your cycling season rolling.
Ride
Rating:
Distance: Easy (18.1)
Elevation: Easy (37)
Total Gain: 664 feet
Steepest: 5.6%
The Weather
Friday’s forecast calls for mostly
cloudy skies with
temperatures
ranging from the upper-50s to low-60s. Riders should expect a steady,
strong breeze
throughout the ride.
The
Ride
This
is a fairly short route coming in at just over 18 miles. The first 10.5 miles or so
are on a very flat
bike path. The last 7
miles are on some
very scenic roads although there are a few moderate hills. The Holliston section of
the trail is
surfaced with packed stone dust rather than asphalt. It’s a very smooth,
easy-to-ride surface even
for road bikes. Milford’s
section is
paved with asphalt.
We’ll take a rest stop at Louisa Lake at the 7.7-mile mark. We have two choices for lunch (optional) at either the Out Post Farm just before the ride ends or at Coffee Haven after the ride ends. The last 3 miles of the ride use the same route as the last ride we did.

ABC 2025 Memberships
Please
note that all memberships from last year expired on January 31. Although our insurance
premium increased
again for 2025 (what else is new), we’re going to keep the same
$10 per year
dues we’ve always had.
If you want to join the club for 2025, dues should be paid any time before your second ride of this season. Our insurance automatically covers all riders for their first ride with the club each year; you will not be covered for subsequent rides until you pay your dues. Memberships can only be paid for with cash; we have no way to accept checks or credit cards. We often are unable to make change; please try to pay with a $10 bill. Thanks!!
Off the
Route
Our “Off the Route” feature
includes both bicycling
topics and non-cycling topics we think are worth sharing.

Great News: More Americans are Riding
Bikes than Ever
Before!!
When more bike riders take to the roads and trails, we’re
just plain
safer. We get more
support for safer
roads. We get more
support for bike
lanes, bike paths, and other cycling infrastructure. We get more support for
improved driving
laws. On the
commercial side, more
styles of bikes are available at lower prices.
Having more cyclists means we are all better off. Keep on keeping on …
we’re making very real
progress!!

At 70 (and beyond), If You’re
Still Doing These
Things, You’re “Winning” at Life
There are lots of articles like this all over the internet. Most of them are a little
vague and a lot
useless. This one,
though, is pretty
good.
ABC does what it can to help.

Remember to check your email after 9:00 a.m. on Friday (always 90 minutes before the “meeting time”) to make sure the ride was not cancelled or postponed due to weather or other reasons. If there’s no email, the ride is on.
See you Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Exchange Street lot in Holliston opposite 49 Exchange Street and … don’t forget those helmets!!
