Saturday’s Weather

The forecast is calling for a very sunny day with temps between 73 and 80 degrees and very dry, comfortable air.

Please note: Starting Sunday, we could be seeing one straight week of temps near or above 90 degrees. It looks like ABC “might” not schedule additional rides for one week or possibly more after Saturday’s ride. Hopefully, the forecast will improve. Stay tuned …

Saturday’s Ride

Well, here you go … a brand new ABC route! We try to offer as much variety as possible. Many of the roads and bike paths will be familiar but a few are new.

Starting at Featherland Park in Sudbury, we’ll ride a short section of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail and then a few country roads in Sudbury, Then, after a short stretch on the recently paved Mass Central Rail Trail, we’ll try out a few new roads in both Sudbury and Lincoln.

The scenery, as always, is great throughout the entire ride. Don’t miss this one!! It could be a week or more before the next ABC ride is scheduled.

The Inside Scoop
Oops … meant to include this with the ride notice for yesterday’s ride to Kimball’s ice cream in Carlisle.

Not only did we have some great ice cream and a whole bunch of socializing, but we “might” have added a few new riders to the club.

Check out this article about Kimball’s:  https://www.nbcboston.com/eat-new-england/boston-mass-ice-cream-stand-carlisle-kimball-farm/3771501/

Speaking about yesterday …
Many of you asked about our good friend Jordan. His knees are pretty sore today but he’s doing fine.

A couple of notable heroes …

Thanks to Emily who tended to Jordan until the EMTs arrived and to Bob, our intrepid videographer, who snapped this photo that showed the offending car’s license plate. It’s great to have riders like Emily and Bob in our club!!

The pictures Bob took have been forwarded to the Carlisle police department.

Don’t get charged with assault and battery or arson
In the past, we’ve suggested not charging your e-bike while you’re sleeping or away from home due to the risk of fires.  The same warning has now been extended to cell phone chargers. Who’d-a-thunk it?

Most of the problems have been caused by cheaper brands, but fires caused by phone chargers is an issue for all chargers. Why not unplug your charger when you aren’t using it?

Of course, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to charge up my phone before a bike ride only to find that, although I plugged the cable into my phone, the charger was not plugged into the outlet.  I’m still working on this … I’m hoping to do better …

To recap this Saturday’s ride, we’ll meet at Featherland Park, Sudbury at 10:30 a.m.

Be sure to check your email after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday to make sure we didn’t cancel or postpone the ride and … don’t forget those helmets!!

See you soon.

Joel
