Hey folks,
My soldering skills aren't what they used to be.
I have a set of Grado headphones that need to go back to the factory
every couple of years because they cables flex at the Y connector, and
after about 2 years of use they fail.
I'm seeing on the net where these headphones are popular with modders,
and fixing things like this seems to be a pretty normal thing to do.
What folks seem to do is to take the cups apart (needs a hair dryer),
unsolder the wires, fit a 3.5mm jack into the hole in each cup where the
wires used to be, solder in the jacks, and re-glue the cups. Then folks
just use 3.5mm stereo patch cords to a stereo Y connector. It's a lot
cheaper to replace the patch cords when they fail.
Anyway, I was wondering if anybody here might be up for doing this. I'm
happy to pay for the effort.
