to Asheville Makers
Hi fellow Makers,

We need teachers for the "Learn to Solder" station at the April 5 Asheville Maker Faire. This station will be led by AB Tech Engineering but they can only supply 2 teachers. We need a total of 4 teachers because this station is so very popular. AB Tech will supply the soldering equipment.

Here is what you will be helping young and old alike build:

Here is a photo from the 2024 Asheville Maker Faire which shows the "Learn to Solder" station.

You'll be working with young kids (as young as 5 or 6) and you might teach an adult. You need to be comfortable providing the right amount of support and guidance for a wide range of people. You will need to be positive and cheerful. For many, soldering is a new skill and some are a little afraid of it.

You will need to arrive no later than 9am (doors open at 10am) and the event ends at 3pm. As a volunteer you will receive a Maker Faire t-shirt and we will feed you lunch.

This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and help young people experience how empowering it is to successfully solder electronic components.

Please contact me ASAP if you are interested in helping.

Hi Tom, I would be interested in helping. Have been to Asheville Makers but didn't join because I would use during the day and it seemed few others would be around at that time. (I have pretty good tube and SS benches at home, so really was looking at Asheville Makers for some collaboration and daytime was not good time for it.)

Let me know if I can help.
