Do-It-Yourself Sustainable Homes Tour

Lets learn directly from each other ways we can affordably reduce our impact on the earth by sharing the methods used to gather rainwater, raise food in urban areas, redirect waste streams, warm our homes, and be good stewards of the land.

Systems showcased will include Rain Catchment Systems, Compost Systems, Cold Frames, Hoop Houses, Bee Keeping, Companion Plantings, Herb Gardens, Chicken Tractors, and much more. Everyone attending is encouraged to take notes, measurements, pictures, and anything else that will empower you to implement the items we observe. We have tried to represent a variety of styles, and methods inclusive of as many ideas as possible in as few locations as possible.

The tour will begin at the West End Bakery and proceed through four different homes. We highly encourage participants to carpool between sites in order to conserve gas while sharing ideas and inspiration. If you do not plan to lead a carpool please park on the street out of respect for West End Bakery. The conveners, Alexei Wood and Dan Clere will be drinking coffee at West End Bakery prior to the tour to answer any questions you may have. Rain or Shine.
