Hello! I hope by now everyone who attended Grand Assembly has caught up on your missing sleep. J Ashburn had a great time at Grand Assembly. Most notably, Jenny Ojeda was initiated into our Assembly. We are so happy to have you join us!
The Grand Appointments for the 2014-2015 were exciting! Darby was appointed as Grand Representative to Colorado and Iowa/Minnesota, and Samantha was selected to be Grand Masonic Flag Bearer AND Page to the Supreme Deputy. (She has her work cut out for her this year.)
Darby, Samantha and Jenny all participated in the Cavalcade of Flags, which was performed twice during the weekend, and was well received.
Ashburn Assembly also showed our skill in ritual competitions: For the ritual competition, Mallory Krishna placed 2nd in the 14-16 age group, reciting Charity’s initiation lecture (the Pot of Gold). Samantha placed 3rd in the 11 -13 age group, reciting Fidelity’s initiation lecture. Mallory and Samantha also competed in the Rose Lecture for their respective age groups. Mallory placed 3rd for the older girls, and Samantha placed either 2nd or 3rd in her age group. Way to go, Samantha and Mallory!
I’d like to congratulate Katie Whidden on a beautiful Grand Assembly and wish her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter of her life as a Past Grand Worthy Advisor and Majority Member. The new Grand Worthy Advisor of Virginia is Brigitte Wendel from Richmond Assembly #10. Brigitte has a fun and exciting term planned for this next year. Her theme is “Our Colorful Heritage”. Her symbols are the compass, the Statue of Liberty and the Earth. Her Mascot is the Wolf. Her Service projects are Camp Friendship and her Charity project is participating with the organization, Girl Up.

We also need to start thinking about our Grand Visitation with Manassas & Fairfax Assembies, which is scheduled for October 26th. Mom Wertman is checking availability of Manasseh Lodge for the GV. The countries assigned by Brigitte for our GV are Greece and China, so we need to start thinking of decorating ideas that incorporate both countries. Planning meetings (consisting of the Mother Advisors’ and/or designates, and the Worthy Advisors of the 3 assemblies) will begin late August or early September. If we can go into the meetings with ideas to share, that would be helpful.
I look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday evening for our meeting, if not before. If you have any questions, please either email me at clariss...@unclejim.us or call me at 703-731-2775.
In Rainbow love & service,
Mom Clarissa
