Wow! What a terrific GV we had yesterday! Samantha, Darby and Jenny all did their parts beautifully. I have heard and read many compliments about the GV, the decorations (thank you Darby and the Snell family) and the programs we presented. Thank you, girls. Mom Feely – your music absolutely MADE the GV. I know it was appreciated by the girls and adults of all 3 assemblies. I also would like to thank all of the parents and Advisory Board members who supported the girls with your presence at the GV. How long do you think we can remember everything we learned yesterday about Greece & China? And don’t forget, there is probably a good Confucius saying for just about anything. Great choice, Samantha!
This Sunday is Nov 2nd and that means we have a business meeting. I think we need to plan an assembly social and/or service event this month. How about everyone think of something we do or somewhere we can go in November just because we want to go there? Be thinking of something we can do as an assembly and we’ll discuss it on Sun. Samantha has on her calendar the “IALOH” Wreath Laying on Nov 8th. Can we get more information about it? Depending on the time and location (I’m guessing at Arlington National Cemetery), this might be a good event for us, and maybe we could follow it up with lunch.
I’m pretty sure Fairfax Assembly will be helping the Community of Faith United Methodist Church in Herndon with the Boy Scout food drive the weekend of Nov 8th & 9th. Many of the Boy Scout packs drop off the food they collect at the church and the church uses it to supply their weekly food pantry. This would be a great service project for us, and we’d get to spend time with Fairfax. Then after we work for a few hours packing up the food the Boy Scouts bring we could go out for dinner or maybe just ice cream as an assembly. Or does anyone know of a church in Loudoun County doing something similar that we could help? Service is an important part of Rainbow, and service outside of the Masonic family gives us another tool to show what Rainbow is about.
Be ready to discuss these and any other ideas you all might have.
Don’t forget to “fall back” this Sunday. See you at the meeting.
In Rainbow Love & Service,
Mom Clarissa
