Premanin Love merupakan film Indonesia yang dirilis pada 18 Juli 2009 yang disutradarai oleh Rako Prijanto. Film ini dibintangi antara lain oleh Tora Sudiro, Vincent Ryan Rompies, Fanny Fabriana, Bagoes Surya Aji Wibowo, Didik Nini Thowok, dan Marwoto. Film ini banyak mengambil lokasi syuting di Kabupaten Wonosobo, Jawa Tengah. Dan selama masa tayangnya di bioskop Indonesia, film Preman in Love berhasil meraih 578.279 penonton sehingga menjadi film Indonesia terlaris keduabelas di tahun 2009.

Sahroni (Tora Sudiro), preman desa Demolong di kaki gunung Sumbing mengubah total kehidupannya karena jauh cinta dengan Rini (Fanny Fabriana), anak pak Lurah yang pulang ke desa untuk dikawinkan dengan Raden Mas Pono (Vincent Ryan Rompies). Karena persaingan cinta segitiga akhirnya Pak Lurah (Marwoto) memutuskan siapa pun yang bisa menjadi Kepala Desa baru menggantikan dirinya akan diangkat menjadi mantu. Sahroni dan Raden mas Pono pun bersaing untuk menjadi suami Rini.

Tanpa sepengetahuan lainnya ternyata Rini jatuh hati kepada Sahroni yang meskipun preman dan hampir semua orang desa membencinya tetapi hatinya mulia. Sahroni yang mulai berubah total dan giat mempersiapkan diri kampaye mendapat saingan Raden mas Pono yang minta bantuan Heri (Den Baguse Ngarso) dukun sakti dari Dieng. Hari pemilihan pun tiba dan semua orang menunggu hasil dengan tegang, Raden mas Pono unggul satu suara dari Sahroni karena curang menyuap panitia pemilihan.

Sahroni terpaksa menerima kekalahannya dengan hati terluka. Dan Rini, harus mau tidak mau menikah dengan Raden mas Pono. Di malam midodareni Rini kabur. Warga undangan-pun heboh termasuk pak Lurah dan Raden mas Pono. Mereka menghakimi Sahroni. Ternyata Rini, punya rencana sendiri. Ia menjebak Iir (kaki tangan Raden Mas Pono) untuk mengaku bahwa Raden mas Pono berlaku curang.

Iir pun menyerah dan mengaku bahkan mau menjadi saksi. Perhitungan ulang-pun dilakukan. Terbukti Sahroni unggul satu suara dan menang dan jalan untuk menikahi Rini berjalan mulus. Belum selesai kegembiraan Sahroni dan Rini, Heri dukun kepercayaan Raden mas Pono muncul mengacaukan suasana dengan segala strateginya untuk melegalkan Raden mas Pono.[1] Namun kecerdikan Sahroni menggagalkan rencana sang dukun dan bahkan dibuatnya pingsan. When Malayalam cinema got shifted from rural to urban stories there was a repetitive feel to most of the stories set in the village backdrop. There were textures and nuances in all those vintage movies which made us love the characters and landscapes. Premasoothram directed by Jiju Ashokan who made an impression with the movie Urumbukal Urangarilla gives me a hope that this director could well bring back that vintage feel in his movies. Having said that, Premasoothram is a movie far from perfect.

I liked the milieu of this story. The village and the characters are well etched out. Even the character arcs have that engaging factor to keep us invested in the movie. The problem is with the politics of the movie. The contradictions the movie has with its own statements will make you wonder about what exactly is the side of the film maker. Jiju Ashokan is praising love at one time and then lust gets glorified. At one point the movie is telling us that the life of women is miserable and they are the brave ones and after a few scenes Jiju Ashokan shows us the opportunist in them. All these contradictions along with the Kamadeva philosophy and love worshipping make the movie a bit of a confusing experience. . The clash is similar to how some people call stalking as persistence and vice versa.
